Mine were not high quality
About 20 some years ago when my funds were very limited, I bought a pair of these boots. I didn't wear any other shoes, those were it. I wore them every day, all day. They held up for a long, long time, and proved to be a great value.Based on that experience, and remembering them fondly, I recently ordered these boots. As you would expect, the name Hi Tec Magnum is the same, but the sourcing and manufacturing is done by someone else, and almost certainly in a different country. It's a 21st century economy after all, and these things move around. After just a few wearings, the finish on the toes cracked all the way over in several places and started peeling off. They still wear and feel the same... I can still wear them. But they look awful. That being said, your pair may be made in a different place than mine, and be higher quality. Who knows? My boots are sub-par, not like my last ones. Buyer beware.PS Its possible I originally had these:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QMIPENM/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1which cost more, probably for a reason.

Comfortable boot; great quality
This is my second pair of Magnum boots. The first were my absolute favorite. They were the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, but after years of heavy use I finally wore through the soles in back and the front sides of the soles detached. I tried several other brands but couldn't find anything as comfortable, but finally found these. I'm still breaking them in and initially they had a *very* stuff heel that dug into my foot, but after wearing them for about a week they've gotten quite comfortable. I'm looking forward to breaking them in until they are as comfortable as my first pair.

Comfortable
First day out of box these boots carried me for a 12 shift in a factory setting. Not one issue or hot spot. Uneven cement floors, gravel parking and steel shavings everywhere no problem and my workday means a lot of walking. The sole is a harder material as I felt none of the uneven floors through the boot meaning the shank part is great. The tread while very aggressive picks up every possible pebble making quiet walking problematic a issue for a Security guard or LEO. The uppers so far after a 12 shift wearing these new Magnum boots I found them very comfortable. I like the simple lacing system just plain eyelets and none of those hooks or straps, junk that breaks all too easy in my opinion. The laces were of sufficient length but I'm betting they will need to be replaced. Since I got these Response II boots VERY cheap I'm not going to complain but point out there was some pretty slapdash stitching but I just took a lighter to melt any loose end stitches, that is a trick I use to keep any stitches on boots from coming totally undone. The leather had some discolorations but I feel these boots were factory seconds but the seller gave me a outstanding deal/sale price.

These boots are absolute garbage. Bought these for my husband
These boots are absolute garbage. Bought these for my husband, who is a Deputy Sheriff assigned to patrol. Completely uncomfortable and were not acceptable for patrol conditions. I also had to buy inserts for the boots to even make them tolerable for him. Within five months the leather by where the toe is bent and split. I expected better and was incredibly disappointed. Don't waste your money.Th

but were a little heavier which I liked. Size was as expected
These boots lasted one year and that's about what a glued up shoe lasts. They have performed as well as the pair of Bates boots I had, but were a little heavier which I liked. Size was as expected. I wore these boots seven days a week and during the spring, summer and fall up to 14 hours a day. I'm on my feet all day long in the dirt, dust, mud and on concrete. They only started to break down and come apart when they repeatedly made wet. For the price their not bad.

Best Tactical I've Worn!
As the heading states: Best Tactical I've Worn! Comfortable, light-weight, easy to slip on and off and well made, what more do you need from a boot?I work in law enforcement and spend plenty of time on my feet and find these comfortable throughout the entire shift.I wanted a tactical boot without a side zipper as I consider it a weak point and the first point likely to fail in time, however not having the side zip can make the boot difficult to get on and off. I've had not trouble getting these on and off, all that's needed to slack off the first few rows of laces and off/on they go. There is a cut-away at the top back of the boot which I think contributes to this.I've found a boot I'm very happy with in the Magnum Men's Response II 8" and I will continue to wear this model for the rest of my career.

NIce boot/too wide... soles are falling off after a year.
The boot seems nice so far (less than a week), but the first attempt to hike in them revealed that, even with an extra insole and three pairs of sox (one liner, one heavy, one medium weight), my feet were swimming side to side! The length seems correct, but I am running out of lacing space to tighten them up laterally to get a good fit. They are also too large around the shin -- I pull the laces up to the limit of how close together they can get, and still can't get a tight fit.For plain walking (not hiking,) they seem fine.Update: One year and a month later: soles are falling off -- the thread that is used to sew them on appears to be failing at the toe, first on one foot, then the other. Since these are a month past the end of their warranty, I'm screwed; so I'm pouring Shoe-Goo™ into the openings hoping it will at least buy me enough time to find something else to replace them with. The worst part is I just wear them and walk in them; I don't jump over tall buildings, kick-in doors, or run through burning buildings with them.Other than that, and the width issue, they've stood up well. It's a shame the thread holding the sole on is failing.

Great boots however I highly recommend a aftermarket insole. Other than that these shoes are very comfortable.
