Pre-Filter Sponge 12 Pack for Fluval Edge Aquarium

First let me say I'm not using these for the system they are intended for. I have an AquaClear 110 so these filters are a bit small. They do stretch a bit which allows me to use them, however, because the pores are so dense it starts to slow the water intake to the pump after about a week.I'm not sure if it would have the same issue on the pump it was designed for, but the cost of these sponges is very good and it probably works much better on the system it was designed for.

WAY better than the original Fluval Edge pre filter sponge that this thing is knocking off.When you squeeze it in water to clean it, the sponge springs back and holds is form and also takes WAY LESS time to clear out than the Fluval edge ones. I also tried the same size but in a coarse sponge in another tank for a few weeks and have seen a huge increase in detritus in the water column so I’m back to these fine pore sponges- again these are WAY better than the name brand one those ones do a good job filtering but they deform after cleaning it the first time so I gave up on them.

I purchased these to slow down the water flow. I was using floss in the intake, but it clogged very quickly, and needed to be replaced constantly. With these, the water flow is decreased without stopping the flow, so the filtering is not interrupted. They also work on different filter intakes, which is good. Best of all, theypre filter the water, so that it is even cleaner and clearer in the tank. Very good purchase.

It's a good value for the quantity you get. The suction is good but, the porousness is to fine to let debris pass. So, you need to do frequent water changes. Does protect fry from getting sucked up if that's your goal.

These are very good filters, exactly what I wanted. No they are not the fluval brand but they work just as well, I saw others complaining about how they clog up really fast or whatever but honestly they just need to clean their tank more. Mine have not clogged at all and ive had one in for about 3 weeks now, I see dirt and gross stuff building up in it and it is definetly helping my actual filters last longer. You wont regret it if you end up purchasing these pre filters, they work really great and I have had zero issues so far.

They clog up quickly, and need to be cleaned out constantly. Hardly a "pre filter", they keep shrimplets and fry out of the filter, but for the headache, not worth it.

Not much to say about this item, its just a pre-filter. If your shopping for pre-filters for your HOB, this is the set to buy. Especially if you have several HOB filters. As long as you keep them clean they should work great. These are going on my Aquaclear 50s. They arrived really fast, and were packaged nicely.

We bought what we thought were the proper filters from another source that was at a lower price for a lot more...and found out the hard way they were the smaller ones. They barely fit on our Fluval filter tube and some of our baby guppies got sucked into the filter. These fit our filter pefectly! From now on, we'll order these from Zanyzap. Oh, and they got delivered rather quickly.
