Cave of the Golden Rose (Volume 1) - 2-DVD Set ( Fantaghirò ) [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Italy ]

This beautifully crafted and engaging film deals with the exploits of the Princess Fantaghiro played by Alessandra Martines. She is the youngest of three sisters, but unlike her siblings refuses to be lesser to any man. She's a kind of "Tom Boy" yet completely and exquisitely feminine and beautiful whenever she wants to be. At other times, she cuts her hair and has it in a laddie boy style. Indeed, she is actually thought to be a boy by many of those she encounters. The setting for this, the first of several seasons, is a kind of Medieval fantasy world where creatures of the forest, including vegetation, are able to talk and participate in the action. Special effects and costumes are top notch.Fantaghiro is skillful with the sword and Robin Hood-like with the bow and arrow. Her sisters love her, but are docile and demure in a traditional way. Their attempt and that of their father, the King, to tone down the behavior of adventure driven Fantaghiro comes to naught. Along the way she encounters a handsome prince (played by the popular Kim Rossi Stuart) and there is instant friction. However, it isn't too long before the two fall in love. How this comes about is part of the fun and the film is never trite.Throughout this film, there are many light and comedic incidents. There are also many dark moments as black magic battles with good magic. This DVD is in English which is not the case in a couple of future seasons. Along with a beautiful film score by Amedeo Minghi (see my review elsewhere on Amazon) this is an uplifting movie to be enjoyed by all ages.

I especially like the beauty of the actress who plays Fantaghiro, as well as the other women in the cast. It is a fairy tale and it seems a bit modernized, because the princess is a good swordswoman and fighter. This is not a traditional female role and probably only works in fairy tale worlds. The costumes are beautiful, and the special effects and events are beautifully filmed and created. What is also nice about fantasy worlds is that even if the characters are killed, they can be reanimated by supernatural forces. If I remember, several of the characters were brought back to life, including the heroine and a couple of other women. And that is good, because one does not want to do without their beauty and charm. And a happy end is made possible by avoiding the grim reaper. I recommend the films, if one does not mind the fighting scenes. I think I prefer films like Cinderella, where violence and death are minimized or even excluded, such as the latest Disney film. But I enjoyed it as a bit of fantasy.

Il secondo dvd non funzionava, ho chiesto sostituzione e mi hanno consegnato quello nuovo funzionante il giorno dopo.Ottima assistenza Amazon come sempre.Il film ovviamente meraviglioso. ❤️

torno alla mia infanzia con questo che purtroppo non ha retto il peso degli anni. Comunque anche i miei figlia abituati a tutti gli effetti speciali dei film moderni, hanno apprezzato la storia e il mondo fatastico.

Ho voluto prendere i primi tre DVD, perché un piacevole ricordo degli anni novanta; l'ho visto con i miei figli in TV durante le vacanze natalizie, ed è piaciuto anche a loro. È arrivato in anticipo, custodia integra, nessun danno come descritto da molti che hanno comprato il cofanetto completo. Si vede abbastanza bene. Ciascuna custodia contiene 2 dischi, divisi in parte 1 e parte 2. Sono molto soddisfatta dell'acquisto.

Fantaghiró è l infanzia e lo ricordo con grande gioia ed è bello da avere in collezione. I difetti ci sono, ma la storia è amore e favola. Bellissimo

Solo problemi con la spezione: regalo deciso un po' all'ultimo, è stato ordinato insieme ad un cd con l'opzione "3-5 giorni"....il cd è arrivato puntualissimo ma il dvd ci ha messo tipo 15 giorni ad arrivare. Articolo perfetto, come da descrizione: la versione originale in due parti che avevo visto in tv più di 20 anni fa!!
