Cordless Screwdriver, Alkaline (BCF601AA)

I wanted a cordless screwdriver to leave out in our patio area. Unfortunately, I don't have a convenient power outlet for a charger. I initially left one of my rechargeable screwdrivers out there, but found that it would be dead after a couple months without a recharge. This is where the Black & Decker AA powered screwdriver solved my problem, especially combined with lithium AA batteries instead of alkaline. Lithium AA batteries provide higher voltage, last longer under load and will not develop that nasty white powder that unused alkaline will sometimes show. The screwdriver itself is pretty nice. Has forward and reverse, comes with four fairly high-quality bits in a bit holder, plus an extension. It has a decent amount of torque and speed, though not the same as my DeWalt cordless screwdriver. It also comes with a LED light and a quick lock chuck that fits drill bits and other type of bits that are designed for that purpose. It does come with batteries, but they did not last very long, especially compared to the lithiums. For its intended occasional purpose, it's the perfect backup cordless screwdriver. I've used it for drilling pilot holes, tightening up fence screws and patio furniture. I've also dropped it a couple times and it has proved its durability. And I have yet to grab the Dewalt out of the garage for use on the patio. So thumbs up Black & Decker.

This Black & Decker powered screwdriver has to be one of the best buys on Amazon! I had been looking for a 6 volt simple yet strong power screwdriver for a few weeks. The quality is good. The design is very good. The weight is balanced, and works great for those general household jobs etc. and it takes 4 AA batteries!

This was purchased by me to replace my old power screwdriver that used a lithium battery which was nonreplaceable, which is why I chose this screwdriver that used alkaline batteries that are replaceable. However, I was unable to open the cap myself to insert the alkaline batteries, and had to find someone with strong hands to do it for me. This was a nuisance, as I wanted a power screwdriver to be easier to use than a manual screwdriver. The power of the screwdriver was also less than my old power screwdriver with lithium battery, and also less than I expected based on my experience with my old power screwdriver.

I’ve been trying to collect all AA powered tools because I hate having to service non replaceable batteries. So far I found an electric toothbrush, water flosser, spray pump, shaver, usb c charger bank all powered with AA batteries. This is the only AA power tool I have found, still searching for a 4x AA dremel. The performance is based on the quality of AA batteries used. I have Nimh AA that output more than 9 amps, this made drilling and screwing easy. The made in japan batteries are the best. You can buy 1/4 hex drill bits or use an adapter for extra functionality. My favorite compact power tool!

This thing doesn't over-torque so you have less risk of stripping things. It is like a home improvement artist designed this thing. It has the best overall fee and utility of any tool I own. It is perfection. When you let off the power button, it functions like a normal screw driver and you can hand tighten things without changing any other settings. The bottom line is if you are a novice at home improvement or want something that won't destroy what you are working on, this is good. No stupid built in rechargeable batteries either. So if it dies I can change the batteries in 2 min vs charging it. Just get enloop rechargeable batteries if you want to be a true environmentalist. It uses standard drill bits. So say you are putting together furniture with allen wrench type screws. Just go to the hardware store and buy allen wrench drill bits and you are good to go. I have a ton of tools, including a lot of screw guns that are much more powerful than this. This is my go to for basic stuff due to the feel it has. If you have a kid in college or an apartment this would be a good start for them to get into power tools.

I didn't know if I would like this or not. It is replacing an old Black & Decker that I have used forever! I honestly think that I am going to like this one even better! Seems like a good product. I love being able to replace my own batteries instead of having to depend on a rechargeable one and the light that they have added is a big plus.

Replacing a 20 year old Black & Decker cordless screwdriver that recently broke, and I can tell you this replacement of like tool is a decline in quality. It is just not the same weight and feels cheaper not only in looks but feel. I like the way the older one worked better so there has been a change in design. I do not expect it will last 20 years, be lucky if it last 1- 5 years. However, it did work for now. My old set came with extra pieces such as bits and more screw driver heads and luckily they fit this one as well as this one fits in the case that came with the first one. The older version was more intuitive in the way it worked as well as just easier to use in my opinion and more comfortable to hold, not as fat. This newer version came with an extender to reach odd spaces. But again overall a real decline in quality from the older version and unfortunately I am not looking for the same life expectancy. However, I am happy to have any working version at the moment.

DO NOT BUY THIS IS A FRAUD. THE DIRECTIONS ARE ALMOST NONEXISTENT. THE DOOR WON'T OPEN FOR BATTERY PLACEMENT. THE HANDLE WON'T MOVE LEFT OR RIGHT TO CHANGE THE SPIN OF THE SCREWDRIVER.

Lo bueno es que se le puede poner pilas recargable para no contaminar tanto o, de las normales para usarlo al instante y no como otros atornilladores inalámbricos que cuando lo quieres usar está descargado o la batería integrada ya no sirve y solo funciona unos segundos. Me gusta la extensión, es más cómodo. Muy buen producto.

Powered by standard AA batteries means I can change the batteries easily when they die. This is important for people who don't use electric screwdrivers often (less than 10 times a year, like me) and worried about the rechargeable battery dying due to ageing. Recommend this electric screwdriver for people who open/close electronic device cases (like PC cases) but shouldn't be used on woodworks, such as assembling IKEA furniture.
