Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black

Excellent case for my first build. Could not recommend this case enough. I spent hours researching budget cases and I don't particularly like those marketed as gaming cases that have really strange over exaggerated designs, I prefer a more understated look. That said I found this and after a lot of video reviews I was convinced this was the case for me. I love the fact that its incredibly sturdy, most of the other cases I saw had a good amount of flex or wobbliness to them which I did not like at all. Cable management was a breeze as you can tuck the vast majority of it behind the motherboard panel on the right and the tool-less drive bays make drive installation extremely quick. Pre-installed motherboard standoffs were great however if you're installing an ATX board you will want to remove the middle standoff for the smaller boards or make sure your ATX motherboard has a hole near the middle to accommodate it (which seems to be more common now with quality motherboards). The case also has plenty of room to accommodate large graphics cards and the popular EVO 212 Heatsink. The only cons I can think of with this case is that it doesn't include a speaker for the POST and that the power button is mushy as opposed to one that clicks and is flush with the case making it a tad difficult to find in the dark at times. The extra mounting areas for fans also lack dust filters but this only really affects the bottom intake as that will be the one to bring in the most dust and there are plenty of aftermarket solutions available to remedy this. This is being extremely nit-picky though and for $50 this case can't be beat if you're after a simple tool-less design. For budget builds this case is a fantastic value. - Posted December 2014 - =================== November 2017 EDIT==================== Still rocking this case and recently decided to venture into overclocking and basically overhauled my build. Happy to say that this case accommodates the Noctua NH-D15 which for this particular case is the best heatsink you can ask for since the better water-cooling solutions don't fit without modding the case itself. I also installed extra fans on the case and am still impressed with the mounting options available here. However due to this you may opt to seal up the intake ventilation holes you're not using with fans mounted on them (such as the side and bottom) with something like duct tape to optimize the airflow in the case. All in all this case is still as good as the day I bought and until I decide I need some water cooling I don't see myself replacing this case any time soon.

Corsair is known for designing great enthusiast market computer cases. Many people were wary and negative at first about Corsair "daring" to release a low priced computer case to their "Carbide" product line. Well to the naysayers, don't judge a book by its cover. I have worked with other cases in this budget segment, including the Antec One and Thermaltake V3. I would also include the NZXT Elite 210 as well (though I haven't done a build in that case yet, it has gotten good reviews and seems to popular), and the Corsair Carbide 200R seems to be the case to beat. It has great features that Corsair is known for, but at a budget price point. Now obviously at this price point (was less then $50), you make sacrifices. But you should know that already going in. The case has a plastic front panel, which you can remove easily enough, with the front panel cables not attached to it, which is nice. The front panel header is built into the case rather than the removable panel there; nice you don't have to worry about wires getting pulled out. The case has a ton of airflow. It feels pretty sturdy surprisingly. It is surprisingly compact, but you still have a spacious interior. The case has rubber feet, which is great. Cases in this price range usually have those crappy hard plastic feet which cause vibration noise in the computer case and can damage the surface you have the case on. On the inside, you have great cable management, a rarity in this price range. Both side panels go on and off very easily, and you have enough room behind the motherboard for your cables. The case has room for two 120 or 140 mm fans on the top (Corsair even shifted the mount points over a bit for those to make room for a motherboard with a large VRM heatsink array), a fan on the bottom of the case, plus two fans on the side panel to cool your GPU or CPU. There are a few things to note with this case: The side panel with the fan mounts is great, as along as you don't use a tall CPU cooler. Using a tall CPU cooler makes using a fan on the side panel over the CPU impossible. There is just not enough clearance. Really at this point, I have not seen a need for a fan there anyway. I will note that the fan mounting areas actually have rubber grommets, to reduce vibration, which is a really nice touch by Corsair. I will also point out that the Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212 does fit in the case fine, you have an inch or so of clearance to the side panel there. Because this is a lightly constructed case, don't expect it to be really quiet, or without possible rattling down the road. I think the last thing to mention, and I wish Corsair didn't do this, was that the hard drive cage/SSD cage is made of plastic. I am not convinced it will hold up over time very well, as you replace or add drives. The clips that hold the drives are far more likely to break in my opinion. This is a strange choice by Corsair, given that other cases in this price range use metal cages. The tool less design of this case is really great though. All in all, this is still a great case, minus a few niggles, which are very minor in the overall scheme of things. If you want a basic, budget case, this is for you!

This case, simply put, is solid. It's not flashy, just solid matte black, exhaust vents all around and both side panels come off with handy thumb screws, no tools required. There are also two fans built into the case which is nice unless you go super high end and need to upgrade your cooling. There are bays for 4 hard drives and 4 solid state drives that secure with 1 or 2 screws, very easy to use. Once you have the sides off, the left side (if you were to look at it from the front) has tons of room to work with your tech, and the right side has many holes for you to feed cords through. I never once felt cramped and I had a full sized motherboard going into it. There are also a lot of loops built directly into the case's body so you can secure the cords with zip-ties. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wish the right side was about a quarter inch wider. Looping all the cords through that side can get a little tight so you almost have to force the side panel back on. Finally, the power light on the front is really bright white, so if you have it setup on a LCD TV across the room like I do, it will draw your eye. It's a minor gripe at best. All in all I am very pleased with this case and would recommend it to anyone doing a budget-minded build.

After several years of using a Mac, I'm going back to the PC platform with a "gamer" build. After a lot of research, and especially the review at Tech Report, I chose this case, and I couldn't be happier. I've built quite a few PCs in the past, and I've never been especially happy with case designs for DIYers. Corsair figured it out, and at a great price. Working inside the case is a dream--plenty of room, and a lot of thought went into making component installation a breeze. For example, there are four slots for SSDs, and hard drive installation is the simplest (and smartest) I've ever seen. Everything is screwless, but if you want to secure your components more securely, you can. (I plan to put my box on a desk, and I don't tend to move it, so I'm happy with how secure things are without screws. Your mileage may vary.) There is plenty of room for even a 12" long video card, if you have such a monster. One of the main gripes I had in the past was cable management. Corsair solved this by providing cutouts in the motherboard platform, and easily removable side panels (thumbscrews), so you can route cables on the back side of the case. They even included plastic ties and tie-down slots to secure your cables. The two included 120mm fans should be plenty for my purposes, but if you need more cooling, you can mount two more on top of the box, another on the bottom, and at least one more on the front. One reviewer here complained about extra motherboard standoffs pre-installed. For my motherboard, I had to remove one standoff. Of course, both the mobo instructions and the case instructions remind you not to have extra standoffs installed. When you're playing around with $1000 of electronics (or more), why not take a few seconds and read the instructions? Bottom line: I highly recommend this case for just about any enthusiast who can make do with four 3.5" drives, four SSDs, and three 5" drives.

I ordered this case to accommodate an ATX sized motherboard that I had to step up to. Typically I will not go above mATX but I didn't have a choice. I debated long and hard over which case to buy because, frankly, they can get pretty ridiculous in size, weight, and appearance. I ended up ordering this one reluctantly and not entirely looking forward to its arrival. Boy was I excited when I got it. It is an absolute featherweight. Not so light as to be "cheap" or "flimsy" but light enough to move around comfortably one loaded up. I've had cases that weighed more by themselves than this case with everything in it. There are a host of thoughtful touches that impressed. It comes with two quiet fans, which were mounted on rubber grommets to keep noise down. But not only that, but there are rubber grommets for EVERY other fan position. That surprised me. There is also a filter for the power supply intake to keep it clean, and the front intake fans are also filtered. There are four bays for big 3.5" hard drives, but there are also 4 slots for 2.5" drives. The only drawback is that these four slots don't look like they have very much ventilation, so they would be primarily for SSD's rather than mechanical hard drives. The space inside the case is perfect for arranging cables. The front panel USB connections are 3.0 and go straight to the header on your motherboard, rather than passing through and plugging into the back of the motherboard. All of the drive bays are tool less. The overall tolerances and gaps are also very impressive in this price range. Everything fits tight, including the 5.25 bay covers which I typically find to be flimsy and loose on other cases. I can't find any real flaws to this case. I suppose someone somewhere will complain about the front panel being plastic but not me. Slightly brushed appearance to give the impression of aluminum and looks great. Also helps keep the weight down. All in all this is a budget case that offers everything that the vast majority of users want. Its value far exceeds its cost.

I like this case a lot. I used it for a friends build. I like it better than my Antec Three Hundred Two and Cooler Master CM690(1st gen). It's the smallest case I've used so far but I'm really starting to appreciate smaller cases. They get the job done. Cables from the power supply don't have to stretch as far. The case comes with two fans, one in the back and one in the front. There's a lot of room for more fans as there's grills for two fans on the side panel and two on the top of the case. The bottom mount for the PSU has an easily removable filter. Even though it is cheaper than the Antec Three Hundred Two, the inside of this case has a black finish which looks so much better. All the expansion slots don't require tools. The side panels have thumb screws. The HDD bays and the 5.25" drive bays all use tooless latches. Even better is that the 5.25" front panel slot mesh things don't require actually removing the front panel of the case. I was able to just pop them out which made life so much easier. This is just the easiest case I've ever had to work with. I don't care how expensive my future builds will be. They get put into a case about this size. The case was able to easily fit the Gigabyte Windforce R9 270X card. It looks like it would easily fit my Evga GTX 970. With all the slots for fans, this case will be more than enough for any build I would use. The case feels very well built. It's nice and not gaudy. This is the ideal case for me in the future. Also the reset button on the Antec Three Hundred Two is this small sliver of a button that I need to actually put effort into pushing. This case has a sane sized button.

This case is sturdy and imposing. It's large and in charge. The aesthetics roughly stop there, but that's fine, as I don't care about having a flashy/gaudy case. What I really love about it is its internal structure and airflow. - There is a sort of "layer" next to the motherboard that wires from drives can be fed through for cable management. - There is an abundance of space, fit for very large GPUs or fans. - There are numerous slots for drives (3 front panel, 4(?) for storage drives). The storage drive slots have (delicate) snap-in clips that you can use to very easily latch in a drive, though you can also screw them in if you're paranoid. - There are two removable panels on either side. You'll primarily only need one off, but for things like initial cable management you'll want to remove both. - The removable panels are INTERCHANGEABLE! This was huge for me because the panel with air flow holes was up against the wall, but I was able to just move it to the other side. It's still not perfectly ideal because there's not much space between the motherboard and the case on that side, but it's a huge improvement. - Most of my air flow comes out of the top of the case, so it's safe to assume the same will be true for you unless you install additional fans on the sides (which there are plenty of spaces to do so). Overall this is a great case. It has been absolutely worth the money and my PC has not overheated once since I bought it.

Ce modèle n'est plus tout jeune et n'est pas forcement optimisé pour tout ce qui se fait de moderne, mais il rempli encore fichtrement bien son contrat. -Premier avantage: les moyens de ventilation offert; vous pouvez branchez jusque 8 ventilateurs dont 5 en 140 mm. Pour les GPU\CPU qui chauffent beaucoup, c'est l'idéal. Ce boitier est rempli de trous. Si vous avez besoin de ventilation, ce boitier est fait pour vous. Bien entendu, il est aussi prévue pour accueillir du Water Cooling. -Deuxième avantage: la largeur du boitier, pour ce genre de boitier moyen. Les plus gros GPU moderne ne passeront peut-être pas dans le boitier en matière de longueur, mais en largeur, l'espace disponible est bienvenue. J'ai branché une RX 580, et deux ventilateurs latérale sans aucun problème. Même si c'est un petit boitier, en gérant bien vos branchements, il y a de la place. La force du 200R, c'est les quelques millimètres gagné en largueur, là où d'autres boitiers montent en hauteur inutilement pour gagner de la place. -Troisième avantage: Les baies pour disques interne (4 x 2,5")(4 x 3,5"). C'est limite si il ni y en a pas de trop pour un si petit boitier. Pour démonstration, voici ma config dans ce boitier. En jeux, je n'ai jamais encore dépassé les 80 degré. Même en tirant un peu sur les performances, le système reste plutôt aux alentours des 70 degré (sans OC). L’ensemble du système fonctionne autour de 40 degré "au repos" et il ne monte pas en température à la moindre application ouverte. Le boitier et ses possibilités de ventilation y sont pour beaucoup. -Corsair Carbide 200R + 6 Ventilateurs (x3 de 140mm. x3 de 120mm). Tout équipé avec des filtres anti poussière. -AMD Ryzen 3600. -Radeon RX 580. -16 Go RAM. -3 disques dur + 1 SSD. -Alim 650 WATT. Conclusion: Très bon moyen boitier ATX et dont la force se résume avant tout à ses possibilités de ventilation. Le 200R peu encore très bien convenir pour une configuration gaming "moyen-haut". Cependant, vue le nombre de trous du boitier, il ne faudra pas négliger la mise en place de filtres anti poussière (directement sur les ventilateurs, ou sur façade).

In relation to the Carbide 200R, I want to say as few things as possible to avoid boring the people who might benefit from this reveiw. This was my first time build for a family member and I wanted to do it as cheap as possible, I know this case isn't exactly cheap but its a value product, its like the difference between buying a knock off tablet or a Nexus, you get quality for an ideal price range. The 200R, considerations: * The case itself is beautiful (in my opinion and the amazon photos do it justice); * Its not a flimsy case like some tech websites describe it to be, its not Armour plated either but its comparable to the stock case you get in a 300$ to 600$ computer; * The case is completely black, has two USB 3.0 ports and is not all metal, the HDD platters are plastic and the front of the case is also. It really doesn't matter though about the plastic as its a hard type of plastic that I'm sure will last and isn't likely to break; * It supports ATX and mATX boards (took me quite a bit of time to figure out the mATX part as I needed a mATX case); * The case comes with extra screws inside but nothing else; * Its got 2.5" and 3.5" bays which means you can use a old laptop HDD or a 3.5" disk, its up to you. It has good cable management for a entry level case and I think it really makes it easy for anyone to install and mount all the components they need. Trust me a good case really does help with everything, its the decisive point on how your build will go. I suggest getting some more fans for the case they are so cheap and it helps with airflow, plus some led ones wouldn't hurt as the case has no lighting itself. Overall if you have researched quite a bit and are indecisive on whether or not you should get it, I say go for it, you really can't loose (in my opinion) and if you are a noob at this and want a good looking functional case this is it definitely. Overall: a great case that supports mATX and ATX boards, its really up gradable and supports large graphics cards and even some water cooling systems.

La cosa che più mi piace di questo case è guardandolo si capisce subito che è un prodotto fatto per durare: è fatto quasi interamente di solido metallo ben resistente e in generale c'è una certa cura per l'interno e tutti i vari connettori. Personalmente ho scelto la versione senza finestra in quanto non mi interessa il bell'aspetto del pc quanto piuttosto il suo funzionamento al massimo delle potenzialità. Il case è molto ben areato e consente l'installazione di 2 ventole frontali, 2 superiori, 2 laterali, una posteriore e una lato pavimento. Le ventole possono essere tutte da 120mm ma quelle superiori e laterali possono essere anche da 140mm. Mi sono fatto dei filtri per l'aria (avrei potuto anche comprarli ma era per risparmiare) per contrastare l'unico difetto di questo case e cioè, appunto, la polvere (l'unico filtro che viene dato è quello per l'alimentatore). Se non avessi messo filtri per l'aria avrei dovuto semplicemente pulire l'interno del pc più spesso (e io sono pigro). L'alimentatore è da installare nella parte inferiore per non limitare le sue prestazioni: nei vecchi case o in quelli economici moderni l'alimentatore viene montato nella parte alta del case per raccogliere tutta l'aria calda e buttarla fuori, risparmiando l'utilizzo di una ventola aggiuntiva. Basta ragionare un attimo per capire che se l'alimentatore ha una ventola per il raffreddamento non è certo per raccogliere l'aria calda da tutte le altre componenti! Inoltre, questo case dispone di una quantità inutilmente grossa di slot per l'installazione di hard disk (4) e ssd (anche qui 4), oltre che a molto spazio per la gestione dei cavi e la facile rimozione del backplate nel caso fosse necessaria. Gli HDD e SSD si possono montare senza l'ausilio di viti ma io ho preferito metterle comunque per evitare qualsiasi vibrazione possibile Volendo proprio fare i rompiscatole, il prodotto non permette un fissaggio della scheda madre standard, dato che un buco della scheda madre che andrete a metterci dentro non avrà un vite che lo occupa ma bensì una semplice "sbarretta" (si vede anche dalle immagini, praticamente come se fosse una vite fissa di un case normale, ma senza testa). Vorrei dire però che questo permette una più facile installazione della scheda madre perché essa rimane "incastrata" una volta posizionata ed è solo più necessario avvitare le altre viti, che ci sono tutte. A quelli timorosi che la scheda madre possa crollargli dentro al case dico che da un mese ho qua dentro montato un dissipatore Noctua NH-U9B SE2 che ok, non è un dissipatore enorme, ma comunque il suo peso ce l'ha. In conclusione, sento di dover consigliare questo ottimo case a tutti quelli che vogliono un buon scatolo spazioso che costi poco e sia fatto veramente bene, ai quali però gliene importa poco dell'aspetto visivo che non ha niente per far spettacolo (led, colori sgargianti e affini)

Amazing product by corsair. This cabinet is so fancy it can almost handle anything to want to install in it. It fits even the large water CPU coolers as well as large graphics card. Awesome cabinet. Loved it.

Me encanto su diseño, es bonita, discreta y tiene una buen espacio para los componentes. Puedes poner hasta 8 ventiladores para mantener libre de calor los componentes. Trae dos ventiladores de buena calidad, con un cable de buen tamaño para alcanzar el conector de tu motherboard. Tiene un panel para ocultar los cables para que tu distribución de periféricos se vea mas limpia.
