Very powerful thickener, works well in icy smoothies.
I was experimenting with icy smoothies and they would separate too much. After some research I saw Xanthan gum being recommended so I thought it was worth trying. Well, it definitely works and prevents separation in icy blends. It's extremely powerful, you only need something like 1/8 teaspoon for a large blender full. Any more and it does start to get a slightly gummy mouthfeel.I'm interested to try using it in other applications like stir frys, sauces, and dressings.

Used a teaspoon in my first home made ice cream recipe
I wanted to ensure that I didn't get ice crystals in my first batch of home made ice cream so I did check out the best way to keep home made ice cream...creamy. I did use whole milk and heavy cream which is a good start as the butterfat content is part of it, but there are many ways/techniques for keeping ice cream from forming ice crystals. One that I read was to put a tablespoon of vodka in it since alcohol doesn't freeze...but...really? If I am going to give this ice cream to my grandchildren, I want to put vodka in it? Xanthan Gum is another and just a teaspoon in the recipe will do the trick. So there you go - it can be used for several things, but for me, having a bag of it on hand when I want to make ice cream because the kids are coming over - that's worth having it!

Perfect for Ice Cream
I am so glad I discovered xanthan gum! I love making homemade vanilla ice cream, but I used to have a problem with it becoming icy and grainy. I tried a lot of different things to fix this, but nothing worked until I tried xanthan gum.Xanthan gum is a natural food additive that acts as a thickener and stabilizer. It helps to prevent ice crystals from forming in ice cream, which results in a smoother and creamier texture.I use just a small amount of xanthan gum in my vanilla ice cream recipe, and it makes a big difference. The ice cream is now always creamy and smooth, even after it's been in the freezer for a while.Another great thing about xanthan gum is that it's very affordable. You can find it at most grocery stores or online. If you're a fan of homemade ice cream, I highly recommend giving xanthan gum a try. It's a simple and inexpensive way to make your ice cream even better. Here are some additional pros of using xanthan gum in homemade ice cream:It helps to improve the overall texture and mouthfeel of the ice cream. It can help to reduce the amount of sugar needed in the recipe. It can help to prevent the ice cream from melting too quickly. It's vegan and gluten-free.Overall, xanthan gum is a great way to improve your homemade vanilla ice cream. It's easy to use, affordable, and has a number of benefits. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Perfect for fraps
I don't write reviews often, but I just had to for this product. I've been missing the taste and texture of Starbucks frappuccinos (but unwilling to spend an arm and a leg to get them), and blending any mixture of milk/ice/yogurt at home just hasn't been able to even come close. I decided to try this product, and I could not be happier! Just a little goes a long way towards making anything thrown in the blender come out at an excellent consistency, nice and thick, letting ice stay crunchy, just like the fraps I was missing. It has no taste (at least as far as I can tell) and just does exactly what I needed it to do. With how little is needed per drink, it'll last a long time for its price too!

Works well for dyi shampoo
I am mixing it with Castile soap, water, and honey to create a little thicker shampoo than a regular Castile soap. Works well. Smells kind of funny, but after adding essential oils, it's ok.
