Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

Enchanting rendition of a medieval poem.
"Sir Gawain and the Green Knight", first written in the late fourteenth century by an unknown poet, has since become a staple of English A-level reading and indeed English literature in general. Now, acclaimed poet Simon Armitage gives us this interesting translation of the tale. It converts the Middle English language of the original into modern-day speech while also preserving the quality of the alliterative verse. It has helped me quite well during my studies- in fact, it was the required text- and I look forward to further readings of it.

A Thing of Beauty
Well at the time of buying this wonderful CD it was unavailable, so I picked up a used copy from Amazon. I had to pay a bit over the odds for it, as you would expect. But it is so lovely, is so lovingly told by Simon Armitage that the extra was more than worth it. Don't hesitate - buy it, and be taken back by a great poet of the present day to great this unknown poet of 14th Century England. Buy it.
