Just OK
There is some knowledge here for the person new to the K31, but it is a little disjointed. The book could use a good editor and proof-reader, and there are a few lapses - substituting "Swede" for what was no doubt meant to be "Swiss", etc. Some of the stock fitting and detail stripping would be helped by specific drawings, too. Not a bad read, but not a must read in my opinion.

Even the title is in error
OK so lets start with the first obvious issue. While the K31 rifle, designed by Colonel Adolph Furrer (1873-1958) is broadly based on a similar straight-pull bolt design like Schmidt -Rubin rifles, it is NOT a Schmidt-Rubin rifle - The M1896, M1911, and K11 are, but the K31 is not. It was designed by Col. Furrer in ...wait for it....1931. Col. Rudolph Schmidt (1832-1898) had nothing to do with the design, as he had been dead for 33 years when the K31 was designed by Col Furrer. Engineer Eduard Rubin (1842-1920) designed the 7.5x55 Swiss cartridge used in both Schmidt-Rubin rifles and the K31 and others, was likewise dead before the K31 was designed. This is a huge myth even among gun writers, but the fact is the K31s are not Schmidt-Rubin guns. Period. SO the author obviously is not familiar with the history of this rifle. Much of what is inside, is so-so at best. Some of the photos are nice, but they are hard to locate a 2nd time since there ARE NO PAGE NUMBERS IN THE ENTIRE BOOK. Publishing House error? Author oversight? Who knows, but takes this from a mediocre, so-so book, into the 'do not waste your money' category. If you want some common-and-easy-to-find tips on accurizing your K31, and just don't want to take the time to google this rifle - it may be an OK buy. But at least give credit to the man who actually designed this rifle, not to a guy who had been dead over a quarter of a century before it was designed.

No Page Numbers
For the money I spent for this book, I would expect page numbers. It has a Table of Contents but no page numbers at all.Californiagunner
