A wine that is too high in acid will have a harsh tart or acidic taste. If the acid level is too low, the wine will taste flat and bland. Use this acid testing Kit to Test the acid level of your must, then adjust accordingly. This Kit comes complete with Test vial, syringe, color solution, Sodium hydroxide and detailed Instructions.

Review: It worked... - ....if you know what you are doing. A really super cool test kit for TA. Easy to use IF, IF, IF you carefully follow directions. This is an "assay" type test that requires you to use your judgement for color of the final test. NOTE: do not be afraid - the more you use this test kit the more better you will judge color changes.
Review: Easy to use - Nice kit, not expensive, does what it says. I use it with a magnetic stirrer, which just makes it easy to do. I also always use pH paper with it to gauge when the solution is neutral. It is easy to see when it is getting close, it is hard to judge when it is at neutral though. By using the small strips of pH paper (I tear them in half to get more) its simple to get an accurate result. I've found you really only need to test the batch once. If the level is right your done for the batch. If you need to make an adjustment you only need to measure after adjusting it to make sure you got it right. I keep this kit, and the SO2 kit set up on my workbench all the time. That make is simple to do the tests as I'm racking the wines.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work to test the level of acedic acid in homemade vinegar? I need to achieve a 5% to 9% acidity level.**
A: The kit level I have will go down to a 3.5 or 4 pH. To test any lower you will need a different indicator.

**Q: What's the strength of the sodium hydroxide in the kit, 0.1N or 0.2N?**
A: .2 or 1/5 normal

**Q: What is the % range this test can measure confidently? Thank you!**
A: I could never get this test to function at all. I even tried with defined calibration solutions and never got a color change. I wouldn't recommend this test at all.

**Q: How do you test for higher than 1%?**
A: You would have to use more the 10 cc's of the 1/5 normal sodium hydroxide or find/buy a stronger than 1/5 normal sodium hydroxide solution. The second option would change how you would calculate your results.
