You get what you pay for with these kids but they are good for what they are for. They have nubs on the top to keep it in an open position but they don't really work. If you tilt it at all it will leak so quickly as if there is no lid at all. We bought this one because regular lids without the hinge were no longer available. We prefer the other ones but this does the job of keeping things out of our juice. Nothing special.

The first one of these that I ordered arrived cracked, due to insufficient packaging (it came in a flexible shipping envelope, apparently it flexed a little too much). I ordered another, which arrived today in good condition (it was packed in a carton with some other items). It fits the plastic carafe. The "hinge" is just a thinner section of the plastic material and is a little stiff, staying all the way open only if you snap the little bumps together. I find that slightly annoying, but only slightly, and it may loosen up with use. So, like I said above, functional.

The "hinge" is just a thinner section in the plastic that is stressed each time that it is activated. Over time it will inevitably fail. This thinner section cannot contact the rim of the carafe leaving a gap through which liquids leak.The lid is hard to install because the oval lid must be perfectly aligned with the oval top of the carafe before the lid can be snapped in place. There are no marks on either part to guide this algnment so you are left time-wasting trial and error.

Difficult to install; not leakproof.
