My favorite piece of dinnerware! This is a huge bowl! It does have low sides, but it is huge! Soooooooo beautiful!!! I sit on my livingroom chair, at supper time. My husband, and i like to watch tv while we eat. This is like a large plate, with sides, which keeps the food from sliding off onto our chairs. Lol! We looooove them!!! They are a little on the heavy side though, for holding on your lap, but that doesn't bother me. It is just perfect for my needs!

I purchased these bowls for serving. I thought the smaller of the two would be a perfect size for a Soup Bowl. I wish I could buy several more in that size as I love to serve hearty soup to casual dinner guests. But it is also a convenient size for serving a dinner vegetables such as corn. The larger bowl is just right for mashed potatoes or a large salad. I love all of the items that I have purchased in the butterfly meadow pattern. My hands are older and arthritic I just can’t big handle heavy dishes and the butterfly meadow pattern is lightweight, easy to handle, but extremely strong as it’s made of porcelain. Also it doesn’t require any special treatment. I put them in the microwave and I put them in the dishwasher and they come out beautiful every time! As an added bonus I use them as display in my small kitchen, and it feels like spring time every day!

I already have one of each these and use it so much I decided to buy an extra. I've seen many complaints about them being too small, but actually I think they are perfect. They hold plenty of food for up to 4 people and are perfect for leftovers. (This smaller one will easily hold one can of vegetables.) The lids fit very nice and snug. Note: I do NOT put my lids in the dishwasher even though they are top-shelf safe. I've found that plastic lids tend to bend over time if you do, and these also have a rubber seal that could easily become dry and brittle over time if you do. One of the great things about these also is that if you have a tomato-based product, the container is not going to become stained like plastic containers do. The bonus is that they are very pretty and match the rest of my Lenox Butterfly Meadow dishes.
