Wilton Red Fondant for Cake Decorating Premade, Vanilla Flavored, Easy to Roll & Ready to Use, 23.9 oz.

This worked well for the cake I made! Taste and texture was okay, but it looked great! I haaaaaate making red fondant from scratch, so this was an excellent solution! It dried well and held the fondant shapes I made with it! It shipped super fast which was nice because I was running out of time on this cake order! The elasticity of the fondant was good, making it easy to get over my cakes!

I had never used fondant before. When I opened it, the block felt very firm and at first I thought it would be too hard/firm to use. I sliced off a chunk about 3/4" thick and started rolling it with a rolling pin on a silicon mat. I quickly realized it was PERFECT in consistency. My son, who has used fondant before, was surprised that it actually tasted good. Most fondant isn't necessarily good for eating. This was good enough we didn't remove it from the cupcakes after we made it. I used a glass to cut circles since my cookie cutters were put away, and it was easy to use and fun. I would buy again!

Have used Wilton and Satin Ice fondants and find them very similar. Unfortunately this time around all four of my Wilton fondants were shipped in a thin, plastic mailer envelope with no padding so they all arrived in roughy shape. At least with the Satin Ice plastic tubs, it arrives in good shape with no dents in the fondant plus it’s easier to seal up and store the leftovers. I’ve found buying the premade red fondant works best for cakes and to accent decorations. When I use red coloring gel to mix with white fondant, it tends to turn just dark pink and by the time you’ve mixed the gel in, it’s a sticky mess. This is a true red and perfect for fire truck or Spider-Man cakes!

This new version of the Wilton fondant did not meet my expectations from previous years. It is not as flexible as the previous production of the product . I find it harder to work with.

Most Wilton items are good and do the job. I needed to make stripes on a cake to look like a bucket of popcorn. Fit the bill! Easy to roll out and cut. I am not a fan of the taste of any fondant, as I feel it’s more for decorator use and not meant to be delicious.
