Arctic Home in the Vedas An Ignored Historical Classic (Paperback) Paperback – December 31, 2008

The story of man is not yet complete, and most of current anthropology/archaeology is what the dogma of academia wants to believe. "Arctic Home in the Vedas" is a definite possibility, especially what is now being found concerning the Denisovens (sp?). At least "Arctic Home" gives us food for thought. Acadamia has as much or more dogma than any religion ever had.

I read this book because I was interested in Hyperborea legends. Though I have studied Hindu legends before, a lot of the deities and myths referred to in this book were new to me, so I was learning about them as I went along. I have also never read the Rig Veda before, and since I don't speak Sanskrit I had to accept Balgangadhar's word on some things. This book is highly esoteric, and not at all written for the common man or casual readers. That being said, I did find his arguments to be reasonable, and I would say the possibility of there having been an actual Hyperborean culture is somewhere between possible and probable.I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because my copy is starting to physically fall apart, and I had to apply some tape to the binding.

Great book on the antiquity of the Vedic civilization.

A disappointing book, limited in scope and now in any case out-dated, being almost 120 years old. Hardly a problem, they don't get much more obscure than this.

I highly reccomend this book book to any Indian who wishes to research his or her own culture(and not a European version of it). But unfortunately this is not the original book but rather a narrarated version and the pure genious of Tilak is lost in the translation. Please refer to the actual unedited version instead if you can find it.

While I was going through the book, something suddenly came to my mind was .. the conspiracy of making someone a father of the Nation , leaving many prominent thinkers this kind aside .. ! This is how great people & their contributions were ignored in our history..

These are Tilak's research papers and astronomical evidence for the age of the veds. His work was rejected for it being written by an Indian.Good to see his work is back again before us with him given the deserving attributes.The book is obviously good enough.

The book is good and we wanted to purchase it more due to its interesting title than anything else. We also wanted to know whether anytime the Poles were habitable.Though nowhere I found any reference to it before committing myself to the purchase of this book, I was told by my sister (for whom this book is meant) that it seems to be a condensed/ abridged version. I am so,happy to get this , historical work, and its amazing work of lokmany tilak , its must reach to all our youth, please make it easy available to all, so world may know about important of vedas and indian superior ancient work, vedas ignore by indians but since old era it was prime source of research in western world , ThanksAnd I am still waiting for some indian historical rare books , but copy of original ,not modified by others like kautilya arthshastra which was best for economy studies, mathematical work of our mathematician
