Clearly the TV does not need to be mounted. I have a 42" sitting on the unit. **Q: Ok I see people giving confusing lengths,width etc. can someone give me the horizontal dimension only?going from from left to right whats measurement?** A: 48 9/16 inches is the exact width. **Q: Can this hold a 37" LCD TV?** A: I don't think so. Even with it installed in studs on the wall.
