Tiger mom approved!
I can’t stand what’s being taught in 1st grade math class at my son’s school - 2+3?! That’s Kindergarten (if not preK) math in any Asian country. Therefore I purchased this book for my first grader. Although it’s not as intense as the real math curriculum in Singapore, it is one of the best I can find on Amazon. Now he is almost done with the book. This book needs parents to work with the kid to introduce basic concepts, but the sample questions at the beginning of each unit are very good examples. Questions in each unit are not very repetitive - they are presented in a variety of forms under the same basic concepts, which is great. I also purchased Kumon books to reinforce some of the math concepts presented in this book. The challenging questions are super fun to solve with my kid - definitely require a brain workout for a 6-year-old. I’ll start the level 3 book soon. Hope it’s as good.

He loves doing work in this book and I really like the system that they use to teach math
My husband was an elementary teacher for 8 years and so he really wanted my son to use Singapore Math in our homeschooling curriculum. I researched it and decided that I would go with it. My son is 6 years old and he does about 2nd grade math so I chose this book because it is supposed to correlate to an American 2nd grade level. He loves doing work in this book and I really like the system that they use to teach math. You begin to think mathematically as well as learn the skills. I didn't give it 5 stars only because I wish that they stayed on each subject a little bit longer. It is sufficient for him right now and, perhaps, the amount they provide will be all he needs. I would definitely recommend Singapore Math and this particular book, we will be using the next book after this.

Great for use as a supplement for school or using as part of a homeschool curriculum
I bought this book to supplement for a 7yr old in public school (she is gifted and need a bit more challenge). Once the schools shut down because of the Covid virus, we were doing homeschooling and the workbook was a great tool for an additional method for math. The 7 yr old thought the pictures were a lot better than how she was doing math at school and has made great progress in understanding the concepts taught with this book. We will be using the next one as well.

gave this book to friend's kid. She found it helped a lot for her kid to learn math in more depth than what's been taught in school. This is a good training for kids who wants to be advance in Math and participate in Math contests or competitions!
