The branding of "G-Technology 4 TB ArmorATD All-Terrain Drive" may not be immediately recognised but Western Digital will be and G-Technology is a specialist subsidiary of the long-established brand.All-Terrain Drives are available in several capacities up to 5Tb, the current maximum available in 2.5 inch format. The 4 and 5TB models are based on 15mm deep drive units with a rubber sleeve enclosing them; the smaller sizes use 9mm drive units, The data/power socket is USB-C with a waterproof rubber cover protecting it when not used. There is a small USB-C to USB 3.1 adapter included to ensure greater compatibility for the typically short cable. An activity LED is located within the area covered by the rubber slot cover.The drive is formatted to exFAT, compatible with both Windows and Mac PCs.The drive is an ideal portable storage device that can be used for any 'normal' purpose that any other non-ruggedised model could perform with the added advantage of being able to better resist damage through shock and water than most are able to allow. Data transfer speed isn't quite the fastest possible but 2.5-inch drives are always slower than 3.5-inch equivalents; for most purposes it should be more than adequate..

Seems very well constructed has a dust cover when not in use. Bought to store files on computer as a permanent external hard drive to a paid data losses.Lovely colour easy to use.A little big for a paocket but it would easy fit in a camera bag or for having as a portable office so no need to take a laptop just plug in where you are. Ideal for Raw camera files and for editing on the go so you can avoid having too much data on your laptop.I’m considering getting another for taking with me all the time to back up my photos when out on jobs.

This was chosen over my other G drives it is for travel in the pyrennes with Drones to , it certainly is tough surprised by how heavy it is. traveling in the mountains can be a problem if you drop anything, if you have backed up photos and drone footage it is worth the extra weight,.this comes with an adaptor make sure it clicks home before connecting to a laptop etc. mike

The unit on my mac formatted fine to the full 4TB and works fine.However the adapter that converts the USB to standard USB type socket does n to work all the time.When i used a deviated USB c to USB standard lkerad of my owen it works fine.Had 2 of these disc drives so I know this is a common fault. You need a dedicated lead without the converter to get consistent use.

Good solid drive.Make sure you check the arrow is lined up on the usb c adapter.It only works one way.Once I noticed that on the cable it was golden.

Needed to upgrade from my previous external harddrive, after a long search, decided to go for this model, sturdy, tuff, loads of space and for the price a no brainer ,highly recommended

I've been using this external disk drive with my MacBook Pro for the last 2.5 years as my external TimeMachine backup drive. Unfortunately it's now failed, won't mount and fails using 'First Aid' . It did fail to mount several times over the last 2 years but 'first aid' on the Mac fixed it each time. It's now out of warranty. Fortunately I also have an online backup as well as iCloud and OneDrive backups of my documents, photos, music and books, but it's annoying that I've lost the ability to go back to TimeMachine an recover anything in the future if I find somethings changed or deleted.

Drive looks great and works well in a short period of time. I own this drive for up to 5 months now. After 3 months I have been facing issues reconnect on my MacBook Pro. There’s long delays to connect or access files, sometimes facing wait times of up to 3 hours or more before reconnecting to Mac. Could be cable or something else I’ve tried many possibilities, same results.

This 2 TB drive works. It is rugged and small enough that it is easy to carry and work with on Airplanes, even the small economy tray tables. I would recommend this to laptop users who travel. It does hook up with a USB C connector

After my portable hard drive fell 3 feet and immediately stopped working and I had to pay over $700 to recover everything on it, I knew I had to find something much more durable. This hard drive has been working great so far and I also got an SSD as a backup. I love that it's water, shock, dust resistant, etc. and it does feel sturdy.

Avevamo bisogno di un hard disk portatile, ultra resistente (con due figli e un gatto dispettoso) e sicuro. Questo prodotto ha soddisfatto a pieno le nostre necessità. E' davvero leggero, robusto e velocissimo. In pochi istanti riesco a trasferire file pesantissimi. Penso sia il miglior prodotto disponibile in termini di resistenza e qualità! Lo ricomprerei al 100%.

Excellent disque pas forcément le plus rapide mais le plus rassurant et le plus solide et pour du stockage je ne suis pas à quelques secondes d'attente. Je préfère avoir la garantie de mes données.
