If you only buy one Arborist book this is the one!
I can't praise Jeff Jepson enough for publishing this. As an aspiring amateur arborist this book has been invaluable to me. He stresses safety throughout the text and that's the most important thing in high risk work. If you get seriously injured you can't do the work, so follow his advice on safety to the letter. He covers the various practical aspects of climbing and Arborist work clearly and thoroughly. The simple illustrations make it easy to understand. About the only thing that would make this book (and his other books) "better" is if they were available in plastic laminated, spiral bound field guides for use on the job site. If you're going climb, prune and rig then buy this book and read it. You won't regret it.

Great Pocket Reference
This book is an excellent reference for anyone who is interested in how professional arborists actually work in trees. The illustrations, knots and arborist technique descriptions are excellent. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in tree climbing and tree work.I would also recommend that you avoid the two book bundle offered by Amazon. The second book Knots and Ropes for Climbers, although well written, is not very useful for someone looking for information on tree climing and arborist techniques.

Excellent Climbing Reference
I haven't climbed or done tree work for some time. I needed a source for new advances and procedures in climbing. This book certainly filled the need. I would recommend this book for anyone who has a desire to climb trees ,or like myself, needs to brush up on technique. It's small enough to take to the job site, yet thorough enough for a reference.

Exellent reference manual
As a hobby technical tree climber and arborist, I have found this book to be very useful as a take-along reference. It does a good job with the major knots, safety, some arborist technique, and general tree access issues.
