My son (age 5) is that kid who is always trying to escape -- and who can figure out any window latch, doorknob cover, cabinet lock that we have ever tried. And if he can't, he just breaks them. You can see one failed culprit in the photos. We are building a porch and the roof is right outside his windows, and I know the temptation to climb out there will be way too much for him. So, we needed to find something. After much searching, I came across these and decided to give them a try. Installation took me all of 10-15 minutes for 3 of them. The windows in question are vinyl, double-hung windows and these things are perfect as long as you install them in the right spot. I had to adjust placement a little to make sure the window didn't open too far, but once I got that figured out it was a breeze. They are inexpensive, strong, and relatively unobtrusive -- and now my husband and I can sleep knowing our son can't climb out his windows! Fantastic product!

Had to turn my house into Fort Knox to keep my son from escaping. I didn't want to put holes in my window frames, but the other designs on the market were only baby-proof instead of kid-proof.Install was cake once I figured out which way to orient the pieces. The self-tapping screws were -chef's kiss- and saved me time pre-drilling. You can put the locking end in other side so you can make the key turning direction the same on each window.No complaints, here. Construction seems very solid.

Actually a great buy. Might buy more to be honest. Only problem we'll not problem but more of a disappointment is all keys unlock all locks. So if one is stolen all can be unlocked. But is one is missing them you can still unlock all of them.

These locks attached very well to my vinyl window frame and wood panel. I used a small drill bit to create guide holes for the screws. I think that helped a lot, especially for the vinyl windows.If you are looking for window locks that will still allow the window to open a few inches these are a great choice.

I bought this to put on my windows because my ex liked to come in through a when he couldn’t get through the door. I didn’t like the fact the cord was as long as it was (which for normal use it’s probably great) so I just raised the height of where I placed it on the window and it only opens a couple inches now and nobody’s able to reach in to mess with the lock. My kids are both older however it’s been great making sure they don’t just leave the window wide open especially when it rains.

Mounted these close to the hinge to keep shed doors from swinging all the way out and hitting exterior lights.

I am a foster parent so we need these on our kids windows as per OH&S. We installed these to old wooden windows and were easy to install and seem to work fine. Can be a little awkward to get the key in and the barrel positioned correctly to open or lock them, but overall they are good.
