no leaks and most importantly - NO SLOSHING!

*by J***A on Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2014*

took this reservoir out for its first run today, and so far - EXCELLENT! i really wanted the Antidote because my old reservoir made a sloshing noise that drove me nuts. this one does not slosh at all, and so far no leaks. after reading so many negative reviews, i am understandably wary about this product, but during a little 10-mile run the reservoir performed perfectly. i love the bite valve, the quarter-turn closure, the built-in baffle, and the SILENCE! if it leaks i'll post an update, but so far i'm hooked.

Great bladder & much easier to clean than expected

*by H***. on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2015*

For many years, I hesitated buying a bladder as I was concerned about cleaning & mold issues. However, the lighter weight and high capacity is always a draw. I found a great deal on the discontinue Camelbak Ante which included the bladder and the insulated tubing. It was very easy to use - just twist off the cap, hold the plastic handle, fill up with water and close the cap. The bite valve worked well and it was convenient to drink from the tube. I dreaded cleaning the bladder/tubing when I came home late at night. However, it was much easier than I expected, probably about the same amount of work as cleaning 3 1L Nalgene bottles. I just added a bit of dish soap to the bladder with some hot water, closed the cap, shook it and squirt it through the tubing. Then, I rinsed with fresh water until there was no soap residue. It was easy to pull off the bite valve to clean separately. The bladder opening was large enough for me to put my hand inside to dry it with a clean paper towel. I just shook out water droplets inside the tubing. There must be some type of hydrophobic coating inside the tubing as there were no water droplets after I shook out the water. Then, I used a baggage tie to hang the bladder and tubing on a hanger (and extend the built-in drying arms under the cap to keep the bladder open for more air circulation.) Both the bladder and the tubing already felt bone dry the next day but I am keeping it open for a few more days to make sure there is no moisture inside before packing up. With this kind of cleaning after each use, I do not expect any mold issues.I give it 4 stars as I wished that it had a stiffer back. I spilled some water when trying to hold the bladder with one hand and close the cap with another. It would be much easier if there is a stiffer back for me to lean the full bladder and close the cap with both hands.

    Gimmicky design that leaks

*by Z***A on Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2014*

I purchased this hydration reservoir because the o-ring of my old Camelbak hydration pack has become loose and I was unable to get a replacement o-ring. I also liked the improved flatter design and the baffle to prevent the water from sloshing around. The quick release tube seems a good idea, although I wondered whether this could leak after many times connecting and disconnecting the tube, or if sand or small particles would get into the clip release.Thankfully, I was unable to get the clip-on filter because:My new hydration reservoir leaked from the new twist-lock cap every time I used it! This was a real nuisance during a long-distance hike in a desert and I could never be certain that I still would have enough water when needed. Fortunately, we were able to top up during the day, but my back pack ended up permanently wet during the whole 12-day hike, and so did some of my camera gear.Someone commented on possible `user error'. Seriously? If a hydration reservoir with a screw type cap needs special instructions on how to screw a cap on, it is a BAD DESIGN!I suggest purchasing any of the older style hydration packs if you prefer a hydration pack, and not fall for gimmicky new designs. Camelbak is not the only company that changed the design and added useless gimmicks.I would give this product zero stars if this was possible. Despite the number of good reviews, hydration reservoirs must not leak under any circumstances!
