I bought this thinking, aluminum, it will last longer. Little did I know it wouldn't fit correctly. The center prong on the 3 stack was too wide. I had to FORCE it to fit, which shaved pieces out of my plastic mount. I would look at a different brand if I had to purchase another one. I made it work, that's the only reason it got two stars.

It's well made, and I like how it's threaded so there's no nut to keep track of. But, the tongues from my gopro waterproof case don't fit into the tongues of this extension. And I don't want to file down my case. I got this because the wide mode on the camera sometimes gets a little bit of the suction mount in-frame. With this extension, I think it would be far enough out that it wouldn't get the suction mount. But, because the case doesn't fit, it's hard to be sure.

This type of straight extension is conspicuously absent from most standard kits I've seen. It gets 5 stars for sturdiness, and just for being what is advertised. However, it does seem to take notably more tightening force than a comparable plastic piece. This is presumably due to the rigidity and smooth finish. All other aspects seem to be exceptional.

Worked perfectly for mounting a camera on the front of my road bike. Definitely worth 5 bucks for the metal piece. Will update if it fails but it is on pretty good right now.
