Radical Medicine: Cutting-Edge Natural Therapies That Treat the Root Causes of Disease
I am completing my 3rd year of medical schooling and this book is definitive, well written, and provides concise references to support its many arguments. Most Americans are largely opinionated about our medical system and many have not taken the effort to truly educate themselves about it. Costs for medical treatment in this country are astronomical as the industry reaps huge profits from a population that is developing increased incidences of chronic illness. The USA consumes over half of the world's total output of pharmaceutical drugs and billions of dollars are spent on research geared to patent more drugs while Americans are not getting healthier. This landmark book provides a wealth of information on the latest developments in medicine. It is geared to both physicians and non-healthcare educated individuals that want to control their own destinies, which includes taking control of one's health, and not relying on pharmaceutical-based treatments that mask symptoms. The chapters dealing with mercury toxicity and bio-therapeutic drainage deserve careful reading. I clearly recall my dentist telling me that mercury was absolutely safe some 30 years past even though I had him remove all of my mercury-containing fillings. In addition, in those times, the typical MD argued brainlessly, that nutrition played a small role in health maintenance. They also argued against inflammation, or its byproducts, as being the chief instigator in many chronic complaints. In addition, many argued against the legitimacy of the role of probiotics. Today, these are widely accepted facts. The point is that traditional medical schooling in the USA is light years behind research in quantum mechanics and biophysics. Thus, medical students become physicians and professors that maintain the old paradigms/status quo. Today's typical physician relies heavily on expensive diagnostic tests (that often produce questionable results based on mass statistics when real medical practice is geared to the individual, and is utilized to promote healing, not suppression of symptoms. This book provides a comprehensive, well organized system of information that can help individuals select proper, effective healthcare.

Excellent and well referenced book
I have been recommending this book to all who are interested in "holistic healing" (healing as a whole). She gives potential reasons as to why people heal at different rates and the potential issues that we may have which we may not be aware of. Her writing has triggered me to do extra research on the food that I consume and has changed the way I look at food - for a good reason/ cause. If you're serious about health, and you're a little naive like myself, this is a very good stepping stone for your further research. The only downside to this is that I bought the kindle version, which was a little hard to read, particularly when it comes to the figures and tables. It was also a little hard to find the information via the kindle version - or maybe I'm just too old fashioned and prefer to look up the index at the back of a book to search for what I need.

The human organism is superbly adapted to an environment that no longer exists...
The human organism is superbly adapted to an environment that no longer exists. Our modern world is totally inappropriate for the bodies we inhabit today. The vast majority of our health and happiness problems result from this mismatch. The solution is to find ways to recreate our ancestral environment in the modern world (and radical remediation strategies to pervasive problems). The information presented in Radical Medicine provides scientific insights to reclaim your strength, health and happiness in the modern world. Our early ancestors didn’t brush… didn’t floss… didn’t get cavities. This is my “go to” line because it seems that the more we brush and floss and use fluoride, the more cavities we get. Obviously, brushing and flossing aren’t the answer, but don’t tell this to the multi-billion dollar dental industry (nor to the allopathic dentist). We all have the ability to remineralize our teeth… to withstand acidic insults… to arrest and resist decay. Nutrition giants Weston A. Price & May Mellanby published the data proving the vital importance that the fat soluble vitamins A, D and K play in tooth remineralization.Wife is a holistic biological dentist (of 20 years)… I own a supplement company (yours truly). In fact, we developed a product together called “Tooth Restore” that is rich in vitamins A, D, K, magnesium, phosphorus (and others)… This is not commercially available, nor does it need to be for people to glean the benefits, because as you know, nourishing food comes first.— Vitamins A, D, and K2 cooperate synergistically not only with each other, but also with essential minerals like magnesium and zinc, with dietary fat, and with key metabolic factors like thyroid hormone * —— Vitamins A, D, and K2 interact synergistically to support energy metabolism, immune health, provide for adequate growth, support strong bones and teeth, and protect soft tissues from calcification * —— Magnesium is required for the production of all proteins, including those that interact with vitamins A and D * —Liver is high in real, preformed vitamin A..That said, if you are deficient in vitamin D, vitamin K2 and/or magnesium, you will not see as much benefit as you could (nor) will you be optimizing other important health metrics. Do you regularly get mid day sun exposure, or take a vitamin D3 supplement? Do you eat fermented veggies like kimchi or sauerkraut or take a vitamin K2 supplement? Do you take a magnesium supplement (I personally recommend a transdermal magnesium oil spray because it's virtually impossible to get enough magnesium from diet alone).[ NOTE: Bone marrow is likely rich in vitamin K and the other fat-soluble nutrients, but formal tests to determine the range and amount remain to be carried out.[11] While smashing bones and sucking out the marrow fat was the hard way our ancestors obtained vitamin K, it's not that difficult to obtain marrow bones and either oven roast 3" pieces to serve as appetisers, or slow cook them to make them extra delicious / nutritious... or, look for a good bone marrow supplement! ]The take home message here is live life in harmony with nature, the way of our early ancestors… love your bone soups, look to liver, get sensible sun exposure, eat your fermented foods (natto reigns supreme) and mind your magnesium. If you want fresh breath, brush your teeth. If you want oral health, nourish your body.People with periodontal issues will also need additional support from whole bone extract (bone, marrow and cartilage), CoQ10 and collagen. Ideally, we would consume these nourishing nutrients by indulging in the deliciousness of bone broth, bone marrow and organ meats (heart is the richest source of CoQ10 that exists in nature).P.S. For those that need intensive support to regain your dental strength and health, consider practicing a ketogenic diet as a "supplement" to everything above. Ketosis helps to deprive the bad bacteria of an energy source... less energy means less fermentation... means less acidic byproducts to demineralize teeth... Wife, the biological dentist, has been using this supplemental strategy with her patients for over a decade, way before it became "trendy!" It's also incredibly helpful to swish with sea salt water throughout the day, and especially after eating and drinking, to maintain a balanced pH. This stuff works! The take home message here is to live life (as much as we can) in harmony with our early ancestral past... sleep, eat and move like our early ancestors did. For all the cumulative biological damage we have collected over the years, Radical Medicine provides key insights so that you, descendant of the sole surviving species of genus Homo (the baddest mammalian predators that ever lived) can reclaim your strength, health and happiness in the modern world.

Exceptional
This book is exceptional - the areas on interference fields, dental, scars, foci, and structural issues are worth the cost of the book alone. So poorly handled by many and often the missing link in complex clients. I had a couple of major realizations in relation to my own health. If you are working in the health field then this book (although expansive) is a must-read.
