I was looking for a portable carry-on size backpack, expandable, and light weight. And i needed to fit in my travel clothes but did not need to haul my work and personal laptop.The Matein seemed like it fit the need and all my other backpacks were more business-travel focused with vertical slots for laptop. So this was a refreshing change when i received and really saw that, as I opened it like a carry-on, and unexpanded, had a good amount of room to add basics. I added a pair of Cole Haan oxfords, stuffed the inside with socks and small amenities, and there was still tons of room for clothes. When I expanded it, the Matein suddenly became even more like a soft-side carryon with extra depth. It's one big space for packing instead of 3 slots like regular backpacks.I've used this on 2 domestic roundtrips already (up to 2 nights each) fully stuffed with and it held up well, even fitting under seat on American and Southwest Airlines, when expanded (granted, it can be squeezed to fit, since I only had clothes.Front pockets are large enough for a tablet, though not padded - which is fine since my clothes are padding it. So far I'm happy with it, and will be my main travel backpack for the business conferences in the next few months.I'm watching the quality of this since I have overstuffed it and it did become a bit heavy (15 lbs), holding up well so far- especially for the main carry handle. Time will tell.The other benefit is that I can still use this as a personal item (backpack, unexpanded) and travel with a regular carry-on or rolling backpack carry-on. The combo would allow me to easily carry 5-6 days of clothing.There is no dedicated padded laptop holder for my work laptop - that's not an issue for me as i will add it to my rolling carry-on but it's something to note if you travel regularly for business with laptops.

Roomy, good quality and lots of compartments for organized travel. Packed it full and it still fit under the airplane seat. Good padding for computer or other electronics.

Backpack is extremely comfortable and large. The option to extend the sizing by using the zipper makes it a huge plus. Has plenty of space for a 2-4 day trip and the shoulder straps are very comfortable. Has a meshed pocket the size of the whole backpack that is good for storage. Two pockets on the front as well.My main issue with the backpack is the zippers and how flimsy the material is.Seems like it will hold up well but time will tell. Fornow, on my first trip it treated me very well.

I was pleasantly surprised with this purchase. The bag was light weight, held a sizable amount and fit nicely under the airplane seat. Coming home, I needed to check it, I was concerned if it would hold up, but it came through perfectly. Being able to detach and store the straps for checked baggage was a plus.

Its light weight and seems to be made well. I am hoping my son uses it for his trip :} That's why I purchased it . Feels comfortable on and plenty of room for 2-3 days of travel . The price was right . Good for hands free travel .

I LOVE this backpack. It’s perfect for any situation (where you need a backpack that is). The material is high enough quality and the size is perfect as a personal item. The side straps can be used to strap other items like a tripod on it. I use this bag a lot to carry instruments around and I use the side straps for my music stands. Just a nice and versatile bag!
