I am on a Darn Tough Socks Crusade. 3 years ago I bought some merino and merino blend socks for travel, 1 pair darn tough socks, 2 pairs icebreakers. The Icebreakers didn't last a year and I took very good care in washing and air drying them. They weren't as soft either and didn't retain their shape. DARN TOUGH SOCKS are REALLY just the best socks. I have 6 pairs now, 5 of the lighter weight non-padded, and one slightly heavier with the padding for my heavy boots. The pair I bought over 3 years ago still look pretty much brand new. Just a really good product that will last for what seems forever, soft, comfy, keeps your feet warm in winter, cool in summer and always dry, wicking away moisture. Also, much more forgiving in the washing than the other brand. *BONUS-American made in Vermont.

Darn Tough is the *gold* standard for wool socks: comfortably padded, warm, and durable. When my last pair wore through the heel, I contacted the company and they asked me to send back the “hole-y” pair. Then they gave me a discount code to select a new pair for free. Old fashioned American customer service for outstanding American-made socks: win-win.

These are ordinary wool socks, not magical.  A lot of "high-end" socks seemed to spring-up around Christmas.  A guy at work couldn't stop talking these up.  We're 12-16 hours in boots, usually 10-miles and 50-floors a day.  I change socks once or twice a day.  These were no better, maybe a little worse, than my 12-pack box-store socks for half the money.
