I wish I could give this MORE stars! This was just what I was looking for! I recently got back into cross stitch. I bought a cute set from the store that came with everything I needed. When I finished it, I couldn't wait to start a new project. The problem was that I didn't find any other kit appealing. It didn't fit my style. Most looked like stuff my grandma would make. No offense to any grandmas. I will be one some day but I wanted something that fit my personality amd style for now. (I'm 38 years old with a young and sassy personality) I looked online for patterns but most sites wanted to charge 8 bucks just for the pattern in pdf format. That wasnt working for me. So I decided to look on amazon and came across this book! I was so excited! This fit my personality and it was a great price! I got the book in 2 days. I want to do every one of them! The pictures are gorgeous and the captions are hilarious. The quality of the book is amazing. The patterns are easy to read as well and are not complicated. I feel that it is perfect for beginners like myself. She even includes 3 different styles of alphabet and a black graft so you can create your own pattern. The book is also small enough to throw in my purse and take with me anywhere. I am a huge fan and will be searching for more books from her. Girl! I am a huge fan! Please give us sassy girls MORE!!!

Love this! It's so much fun. I ended up buying some of that red guide string (red fishing line basically--see picture, I bought it on Amazon) to use with this. I'm a beginner and found this easy to use. If it helps, I fold my material in half, both directions, and that helps me start my pattern. It suggests to start in the center, and this process helps. :)Also, you can mix and match the borders if you plan it right. I also do different colors than what is recommended, so embrace your creativity!

Too much cursing and negativity for me to appreciate. And I speak as a person who, even at months away from 70 still enjoys using colorful language on occasion.I thought that the description was not specific enough about what to expect. I purchased it hoping to find an assortment of alphabet fonts. There were lots of words (some I would have rather seen fewer of) but not a variety of print types.I would return it if I didn’t have to pay for return shipping. Lesson learned to be more careful when choosing craft books. I was definitely swayed by the. over 300 positive reviews. Undoubtedly, I was not looking for the same type of book.

I bought this for my wife who has a wicked sense of humor and has recently taken up cross stitch as a new hobby. This book has been perfect for her. She loves the patterns for their subversive content, and very much appreciates that the patterns are in full color. Previously she had been printing patterns from online, but with a black and white printer she had to rely on patterns printed with different symbols to represent colors. This became extremely tedious, especially in patterns with over 30 colors! The pictures are basically to-scale, which makes cross stitching them very easy for counting squares.This book made an especially great present for my wife since it has 50 different patterns so there is a lot for her to choose from which will supply her with patterns for months. The patterns she had been buying off of etsy cost about $3 apiece, so this book represented an exceptional value. On top of that, it makes a great coffee table book for people to enjoy the juxtaposition of the "traditional" hobby of cross stitching (as my wife puts it, her "old lady" hobby) with the very funny quotes. If they ever release a second volume I will surely buy a copy for my wife.

Love this book! I just started cross stitching but the brief instructions in the beginning of the book are enough to get going. I've already made a couple of the patterns and love them and have a request to make one for a friend. They are cheeky little sayings. I also really appreciate the lettering charts in the back which I plan to use in the future to try and stitch some of my own little sayings. The book comes with a nice selection of borders as well.

I've been following Julie Jackson's site for the past few months as I have been getting into cross stitching. The wording and borders are perfect for adding a bit of snark to just about any cross stitch piece. The book is a nice size with pictures of the patterns all stitched up, as well as the patterns to stitch each. Very happy with this purchase.

When I got it I didn’t think I was going to like it because it’s wasn’t as big as I thought it should be. But boy was I wrong! The content is not only helpful to new cross stitcher, it had my LOLing at every page. Absolutely love it and already completed one project from it! Very easy to read patterns and big enough your not hurting your eyes trying to figure it out!

This is a brilliant book with easy-to-follow and uncomplicated patterns. The many designs present in the book, along with additional alphabets in the back section allow you to either follow the design, or make it your own. I had never cross-stitched before buying this book but am now producing choice swear words in hearts, flowers, and alone. The authors sense of humour is well appreciated

Very pleased with this book. I have used the Subversive website in the past and bought kits and pdf patterns, but the delivery costs from the US are high - so I ordered the book from Amazon.Some good patterns for cards and a very useful set of alphabets at the end so you can personalize your creations.Not for the easily offended, but some funny little pieces.If you're not sure if this is for you I would recommend visiting the Subversive Cross Stitch website so you can see if the humour is your type of thing.

Absolutely AMAZEBALLS! I'm a beginner and this book is not only hilarious but easy to follow patterns! I cannot believe anyone gave this a one star!!!! It's rude, it's offensive, it's simply bliss!!!!!! Must have a sense of humour! And super fast delivery!

Having been bored of the cutesy cross stitch kits this is a breath of fresh air- still has the intricate decorative side but you don't feel I like a granny when stitching in public- only thing I now have a back log from friends and family!
