This plug is to prevent the ball from possibly losing air. When I peeled the sticker off the ball the coloring of the ball came off with it. Well it doesn't damage or effect the ball in anyway except cosmetically. I was a bit startled to see the top layer removed with the sticker. Other than that the ball is a very good product. We've had it for a couple months and played with my son a few times and he loves it.
