Connects, seals, and protects butt connected wires
If you are looking for a quick and secure electrical and mechanical connection between two wires, this is it. One issue I have with crimped butt connectors is that the crimps don't always take. In my case, I am joining 16 AWG wire and these not only connected the two wires with solder (a strong mechanical and electrical connection), they sealed and insulated the connection too.Getting the right amount of heat to melt the solder took a bit of learning (I was using a butane heat source), though it did not take long (about 3 connections) to get it down. Heat the entire connection to shrink the tubing around the wires (the tubing will turn clear and glossy), then focus the heat on the metal center until you see the solder flow (the metal center outside will not melt). You now have a sealed soldered connection! Is this the same as soldering the wires together and then applying heat shrink tubing? Yes, it certainly is. It is much easier to use this single part (no additional flux required), than to apply flux, solder, then shrink.Highly recommended.

I really enjoy re-wiring trailers and installing stereo equipment and until now I've been using traditional heat-shrink butt-connectors. With these my job is done in a fraction of the time and that leaves more time for other projects. The solder is typically melted within 10 to 12 seconds from when I turn on my heat gun.

Junk
Junk they melt and burn before solder melts

Good Quality
They seem to solder well and heat shrink is a good seal.

No thanks
Wish I would have tried some before loading up. Not that easy or clean.

Great Product from a Great Seller!
Great Product from a Great Seller! These work great! Saves me tons of time. I use a Kohree 110V LED Digital 858D SMD Hot Air Rework Station Solder Blower Heat Gun to heat these instead of a regular heat gun or open flame but with care just about any heat source will do!

Three Stars
Good idea but takes too much handling and heat time to make true solder connection
