Q: Do the bottoms come off when pick up the chair?

We have not actually installed the feet. The diameter is too small for our chairs. But, I still have them to return.They screw into the bottom of the chair leg, then the cup that tilts fits over the ball. I don't think it is possible for them to come off when you pick up the chair. It looks like the two pieces fit quite snuggly.

Q: Are these good for hardwood floors?

I am not certain, my chairs are partially on an area rug under the table and partially on vinyl floor. They work great on both of those surfaces. They are much better than any other type I have tried.

Q: Will they scratch wood or laminate floors? We've always used felt pads but they come off so these sound good if they don't scratch.

The bottom is plastic so if it gets sand in it it will scratch. I put the felt pads on. The reason I purchased these was the legs flared so much the felt pads were 'squished' off. Now they sit flat to the floor.

Q: If you pick up the chair, will the two pieces separate?

I have found that the foot "part that touches the floor" will sometimes fall off or becomes unsnapped from the screwed in section attached to the chair leg. It seems that some of the feet are more loose than others. The feet just snap off from the base and this allows the feet to swivel. It's not too much of a problem as they just snap back in place, plus it's only a problem when a chair is picked up off the floor.
