Good for the price
Can't really complain with the price. Wasn't too hard to assemble, I think the instructions were fine. Drawers can't handle too much stuff, but if you're relatively gentle with them it's fine! Looks great and super stylish too :)

Before you get discouraged by the reviews...
The IKEA-style assembly of this bed does, as other reviews indicate, leave something to be desired in terms of sturdiness and creakiness. However, with a couple extra hours and about $25 worth of apparatus from the hardware store, it's easy to build this thing solid as a rock. If you've got the time and the inclination, you'll end up with a surprisingly high quality piece of furniture. (And it doesn't look cheap either.) Total assembly time, with the modifications, was about five hours for a moderately capable guy with a drill and a six-pack of High Life. You'll also need a companion to help hold things together as you're slotting together the bigger bits.If this sounds intimidating, it's actually pretty easy. Just buy the hardware and things will be pretty intuitive once you're done slogging through the directions and you return to this. You will need the following from the hardware store. Just ask someone there if you're unfamiliar, and they'll point you right to it:8 2.5inch/63mm "corner braces"A box of wood screws that are sized 6x5/8. The corner braces may come with screws, but these will be 3/4in or longer, and will poke through the wood. You're going to use the 6x5/8 screws with the corner braces.A box of wood screws that are 1.5 inches long. Just get the narrowest ones they have, whatever gauge that may be. If they don't have something 1.5 inches, anything in that neighborhood will do.15 feet of 1/2in wide heavy duty felt tape. (Get six rolls of the stuff and you won't run out.)STEP 1: Before you install the slats on which the bed will rest and connect the whole thing together, stick a strip of felt across the top of the two inside support beams. This will help keep the beams from rattling around under your mattress.STEP 2: Once you have assembled the frame, take the longer wood screws and drill them down through each slat into the support beams, right through the felt. Make it nice and tight.STEP 4: Cut the felt tape into 3 inch strips and, without removing the wax paper backing, slip them into the slots where the ends of the slats are fitted, using a flathead screwdriver to stuff them in if you have problems. This will tighten the ends so that they don't rattle around in the metal bracket.STEP 5: Drill the corner braces using the 6x5/8 screws into each of the four corners. It will be obvious where to put them: you're just trying to firm up the connection between the side beams and the ends, so that they don't flex around. I found it helpful to put the top four horizontally (directly above the slats) and bottom four vertically (like an L, inside the opening where the drawer will go). Don't worry that you will impinge on the drawers -- there's room.(It's also helpful to run some felt tape along the bottom of the bed, especially if you have wood floors, so that you can move it around without scratching.)Congrats, you now have an extremely solid (and subtly classy looking) bed. And you spent $350, not $800. Prepac Espresso Tall Twin/Mates Platform Storage Bed (6-drawers) Prepac Monterey Cherry Queen Platform Storage Bed (6-drawers)

Garbage hardware included. Tedious assembly
I am the person friends and family call on to assemble their furniture. I love putting things together and generally have a good time doing it, even something as mundane as a table or chair. With that established, I want to say that it took me 4 hours to assemble this bed - and that's only including 3 out of 6 drawers. I spent 2 hours on general assembly, and another 2 hours fiddling with... The part referred to in the guide as "JCB" is actually a cross dowel nut, or barrel nut. These nuts are to be inserted at 4 spots on each corner of the bed, as well as 8 total spots in the middle. 2 hours spent on securing 8 bolts. The tolerances that this bed was designed with are TIGHT, I mean really tight. Millimeters were the difference between fastening being easy or an absolute nightmare. Due to this, 4 out of the 8 corner bolts are not fastened at all, because the dowel nut was either "stripped" (I'd say more like deformed) beyond recovery or in some cases completely cracked in half. I was extra careful to ensure that the nuts were lined up properly, checked that the bolt and nuts actually fit before trying to insert them into the wood. The very moment the nut was inserted into the wood it would rotate the SMALLEST amount, which gave me, at least, immense troubles. Even when I rotated the nut with a screwdriver, I could not make them thread together.I can safely report that at least one bolt on each corner of the bed is not fastened at all, due to the broken nuts and a lack of replacements. (Check photos for broken nuts)These dowel nuts are the garbage hardware. The bolts that you are supposed to use them with are made of a much stronger material than the nuts are. Most other pieces were fine, though the head slots on the screws are quite wide.Things I recommend if you're thinking about buying this bed:USE A DRILL (but never over-torque, especially with cheap wood like this)Buy your own dowel nuts (verify the size for yourself, I'm not a measurement wizard)Follow Kindle Customer's review's guideDo not unpack in a carpeted room - It will release an entire sawmill's worth of sawdust and particles into the air.Do not assemble in a carpeted room - Unless you take extreme care with lining the sides up. Like, more than you usually might.*Those last two points really provide some food for thought about the quality of this product.*Thoughts on finished product itself: Not bad, but not great. To be sure, it is not worth its current price of almost $400. Even when the bed is completely squared and lined up, there will be empty and unfinished spaces visible (in photos). Every single piece was covered in a layer of dust, which may not surprise some. For me however, with as much effort was required already, cleaning something fresh out of the box doesn't bode well.

Nice.
I followed the instructions concerning the strengthening of the base Called ''Before you get discouraged by the reviews...'' In the comments below, posted by ''kindle Customer''I feel it is now so much more resistant than if I hadn't done it. Worth the extra steps and the extra time. Minimal to no creaking sounds, the drawers are almost perfect (just one with a 1 cm crack), the wooden planks didn't move when I put the mattress on top (if I hadn't screwed them to the base the planks would've been all over the place). And I added porcelain handles to the drawers: now it's super pretty!NotesDo be careful to not use max torque the screws, since it's still not real hard wood tho.And as of Kindle Customer's ''STEP 5 '' (STEP 5: Drill the corner braces using the 6x5/8 screw ) : Firstly: DO IT BEFORE STEP 2 ! But the slats in the frame in step 2 yes, but do not screw them just yet; this will allow you to move the ones close to the border a bit so you have more space to work with the corner braces. Secondly, when he says: ''I found it helpful to put the top four horizontally (directly above the slats) and BOTTOM FOUR vertically (like an L, inside the opening where the drawer will go)'' take heed: if you work with an electric drill I advise you to pre-drill the holes for the ''Bottom four'', at least on the part that is parallel to the floor (look at the drawing). When the bed is fully assembled there won't be enough space for a regular- sized drill to fit and drill a straight hole for the corner brace in the drawer space.:D

Sharpie marks on the outside..
I like the bed, and the storage will be great, though I'm a bit disappointed that there are sharpie marks on the outside that won't wash off.

Good purchase
I love my bed. I love the drawers. Setting up was not too difficult. I did it all by myself, as hubby was busy doing something else. I got all the parts and the bed arrived supper quickly and all in good shape. I had to add a couple of screws here and there, to tie the slats to the middle supports in order to keep the bed from loosing its squareness (if you may call it), as there is nothing really to hold it in place and as soon as you try to re-position the bed, your whole bed gets out of shape and the drawers don't fit right. I also find that the mattress now fits too small and there is a gap between the mattress and the headboard (the head board is from another bed and that might be the reason. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and I would purchase again if I need another bed.
