Not at all suitable for a chair rail.
Just FYI this product is not at ALL strong enough to work as a chair rail. The force of a chair back connecting with this moulding would immediately break in into pieces moving at a modest speed. A chair would turn the trim to pulp moving at a quick speed—legitimately.Might work as a nice crown moulding add-on perhaps.Though a very pretty design it also arrived with no padding, in a very cheap and flimsy box, broken into 3 pieces. I didn't get what I paid for.
The description listed these pieces as 94 1/2 inches long. I ordered two for a total of 189 inches.I needed them to be the length stated in the description so as not to have any chintzy splicing in a focal part of the room. What I received was one piece at 73" another at 49" and the last piece was 45" for a total of 167". Not even one piece was long enough for one side of where I needed it. This is not useable for my project. Not only did I NOT receive my order in two solid pieces. I was shorted 22 inches that I paid for. I don't know what I'm going to do with them yet. Not sure if I want to go through the hassle/refund route or use them for something else down the line. I'm miffed about the inconvenience and shortage.
