Antarctic Antics: A Book of Penguin Poems

Our toddler animal lover is crazy about this one. Good for children through 2nd grade. Funny poems about penguins - but all true facts. Who doesn't love penguins? Makes learning fun

This book has great pictures and nice, fun informative poems. The first time I bought this book was for my daughter when she was about 5 years old. I bought it in paperback and after reading and re-reading it, it fell apart...so I purchased it again for my daughter. She was a little bit older that time. Of course this had to be hardback. She had it until I lent it to a friend and we didn't get it back! I then purchased it again in hardback at my daughter's coaxing. I thought, now that my daughter is older, it would be safe to give to another friend for her young son. She was quite upset when she found out I had given it away, yet again! Well as you can see, I have purchased it for my daughter. The book has been a lot of fun for my family and my friends. We all have enjoyed it, however; I have never enjoyed it so much as I did the other day. When the 4th rendition arrived and I was able to call my, near 17 year old, daughter out of her "cave" to give it to her. She snatched the book from my hands, clutched the book to her breast, smiled real big, and said "Thanks Mom." How very unteenager of her. Made my day!

My daughter is learning about poems and rhyming in school right now so this was a good purchase for us. This gave her a way to get some extra work in at home while enjoying the story that is being told in the process. Good art work, nicely told stories, very good purchase. She has actually taken it to school for show and tell and the teacher read it to the class and they all enjoyed it as well. Highly recommended by my family. Good for teaching how to right poems and read them and also to see words the rhyme with others. She is in her first year of school so any chance we can get to help teach her more with things she really loves, we take full advantage of.

My grandchildren have always loved this book, so I decided to buy it as a gift for someone who is having a baby. Not only are the illustrations great, but the entire book is rhymed poetry. I used to chant or sing the words and eventually, my children did too. The story of a little penguin from the time of birth until it is grown is delightful. This is an undiscovered gem.

I bought this book to replace the book my student loved to death. The book I received is faded ( penguins are gray instead of black) and not the same quality as the picture on Amazon or the original. I’m worried that my student, who is Autistic, will be very upset that it is not the the “same book.” The penguins are gray throughout the book and there is true black on the pages, so I know it wasn’t like the printer was running out of ink. I’m worried about the the next school day because I told my student a brand new book was coming to replace the “dead” book.This is a wonderful book and very cute. The book itself deserves 5 stars, but this seller deserves a 1. Since I can’t rate the seller, unfortunately, this book gets a one.

An adult friend recommended this book to me (also an adult), figuring that I'd enjoy anything containing a poem titled "Regurgitate." She was right, and I found the rest of the book well-written and well-crafted, full of similar humor and the kind of realism-in-viewpoint that is sometimes (too often) lacking in books that feature animals. The illustrations are also excellent. I'm told that children do enjoy this book, but it's also captivated many of my adult friends ... including one woman to whom I presented a copy for her 55th birthday. Quality shines through any good work, and that's definitely true of "Antarctic Antics."

This was a gift for a 6 yr old and what I read was fun and informative. She is a good reader so I believe she will love it and learn about poetry and penguins while reading

Every class I read this too loved it! Penguin baby finding his mother listens to eek, awk, eck. and finally "Ack! Such a sweet sounding ack, lovely mom you've come back, did you bring me a snack? Only my mom would say ack".

A delightful book, which was bought for an adult, but gives a lovely introduction to the life of the emperor penguin. It is intended for children but adults interested in penguins should enjoy it too.

Somewhat dissapointing in as much as although the illustrations were excellent and the theme succinct the poetry not as bright as I expected.
