Classic Watch!
I own 7 different wrist watches. Yes 7! Why!? Because I am very hard on watches being I'm always working with my hands and they tend to get knocked around a lot! 3 of them are very nice in quality but like I said! I'm hard on them! So over the years I've collected a few that weren't of real high price. Meaning not over a hundred dollars but they are nice watches! One thing I noticed was just how accurate they are not! Except for 2 I own! In 1994 I got an Insurance Settlement and bought a nice Classic car but I had a junk watch! So I went searching for a nicer one while I took my 69 El Camino for a nice cruise. My ride took me to a store I was very familiar with! Best! This was before they were bought out and changed there name so I went to the Jewelry department and looked at their nicer watches and after consulting with the girl behind the counter we came to an agreement that the Seiko Gold Quartz in Gold finish was the better choice. It has a very nice slender design with a Mineral Crystal! Day and Date were easy to read along with the gold numbering. This wasn't a cheap watch either! In 1994 it sold for just under $300 and was comfortable to wear with a linked Gold band. I loved the watch so much I wore it daily, even at work! I was an Auto Repairman at the time so it got banged up on occasion and it got dirty with perspiration and grit! But it was very easy to clean with a used toothbrush and soap and it was and still is water resistant. One day my girlfriend got very angry with me when she saw a small scratch on the face so she told me to put it away and buy a cheaper watch. Well I did but after only a few days it broke! So! She took it on herself to buy me a pocket watch! Well! lol! I don't have it anymore nor do I have that girl! The watch she bought me was worth the $30 she spent and it didn't have a closing face so it was crushed the first time I leaned over a fender! Woops! Well over the years I've collected a few after the batteries died and I didn't want to take the time to put them in a watch repair shop after they cracked the crystal on my beautiful Seiko. One watch I love is my Swiss Army Chronograph watch but it kills the battery to fast so it's in my safe waiting for the battery to arrive and I'm fixing my own watches now! Yes I bought the Readaeer kit from here and that works perfect so I don't have to spend $15 having it done by someone else I don't trust. you can find any battery you need right here on Amazon in multi packs of usually 4 batteries for the price of one! Ok! Now this beautiful Charles-Hurbert Classic! I read the reviews and had a few chuckles over them. When someone goes looking for a watch you have to ask yourself a couple questions! What do I want it to do for me!? Show me the correct time of day!? Sure! What other functions do I want!? Some even come with a Calculator and I used one at work for a couple years and that watch was cheap! Cassio! Yea that's a cheap watch! But it worked great and had a rubber band so I wore it daily in the Pacific North West in the rain while I worked for a Christmas Tree grower as his Foreman and I used the Calculator to add up what I was paying my workers and I was never off. So sometimes cheap is great! Now I'm retired and living in Sturgis South Dakota and yes it's cold here right now with 3-5 foot snow drifts around my house! So why did I buy this beautiful Timepiece!? So I could leave it to my son! He has a bad habit of losing everything so I'm taking a gamble with it but it has a very sturdy chain and clasp. First Impression! Classy! It's got a beautiful Medieval design on the faces plus you can engrave the shield at a later date with enough room for some nice initials. Secondly! It has some nice weight to it! I saw how much it weighed in the description. One thing I noticed in the reviews was people complaining about the knob being loose feeling! People saying it was hard to set to the exact minute! Come on people! I didn't have a problem setting it! Then someone said it didn't keep time! So I've had it beside my most accurate watch! My Seiko! It did advance 2 seconds over 24 hours! Now that's not bad! It's adjustable if it bothers you that much but after the 48 hour time period it will run then adjust it every couple days after you wind it for a week! Someone wrote that the front cover became loose and the catch it locks closed with became worn! My watch is perfect! It's not floppy like they mentioned! The spring is fine! The face I read was too hard to read if you had Bifocal's! Sorry! I have Trifocal's and I can read them just fine and this face is beautiful! I love seeing the main Cog working and the second hand cog spinning. The back side opened the same and I enjoy watching the movement. It has that elegant click when you close the two sides. All in all! This is a watch someone will enjoy and take pride in owning! If it's a gift from your wife then show her just how much you love it! Get a Magnifying glass and let her watch the movement with you. It really does have 17 jewels and you can see them on the face and the back. I think these are Sapphire's! My Swiss watch only has 4 jewels! That watch was worn by a British Soldier in the Gulf War and I have a document saying that and it's even registered so I can trust the Provenance! You won't believe what I paid for it at an Estate Auction! Now just how much is a watch like this worth!? Well it's marked down from $179 to $105! This is a Classy watch! Wear it for her with pride and let people see that beautiful chain! I'd wear it with my suit! The clasp is very strong so wear it with your Blue Jeans! That's what that small pocket it for right!? I know some people have never owned a mechanical watch! You must wind this ever 2 days and the instruction's say to wind it about 45 to 55 half turns! Ok! Stop there! Don't wind this past 40! I tried to go to 45 but it stopped at 43! The crystal is Acrylic! Meaning it's a durable plastic! If it gets a small scratch you can have that buffed out with the proper compound. Don't touch it and just blow off the dust if it does get some. Your fingers are rough so leave it alone! It does come with a cleaning cloth so use that! It also come with a nice cloth pouch to keep it in while you store it in the nice box until the next time you take your woman to dinner and do that! She deserves that for buying you a top quality gift such as this watch! If you don't like this watch well! Good luck!

First-timer watch owner. Amazing feel, weight, and quality!
There's something magical about feeling the weight of the pocket watch in hand, and peering into the window of the watch face to see the tiny gears moving tirelessly in the background. As my first-ever pocket watch, I am deeply taken aback at how such an intricate gadget can keep track of our time (and so well). The engraving on the front is absolutely regal, and the chain that comes with it is sturdy but not cumbersome. Upon testing, the watch seems to hold the time well, and the hunter case it is enclosed in protects the delicate machinery underneath. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Good value for money
Looked good felt good. I liked the coin-like ridges around the side.I didn't like that the hunter case had imagery on it, I was expecting a plain case (and the photos advertised didn't show either). Was a little hard to read with just the front open, easier when both Hunter cases were open.Did run slightly fast. Good tactile feel.

Looks great but the mechanism is fragile
The engravings are beautiful, the face and skeleton look good, the winding mechanism starts skipping after a few days of winding the watch as per instructions - about 30 turns. after that, it kept getting worse and I could only wind it enough for a few hours at a time. Taking it to a watch mechanic to fix the mechanism.

Nice watch!
I have a collection of antique mechanical clocks that drives my wife crazy.I never wear wrist watches.I had become beholden to using my phone as a timepiece. Then I decided, "ENOUGH!"So I got an antique pocket watch that was misrepresented on eBay.Then I bought a Sewor watch for $24 and it broke after 50 days.So I found this and already think I made the right decision. I've had it for less than a week but it feels strong and looks like it's made of quality materials and if it breaks, I have a warranty card.

Big disappointment, Charles-Hubert, Paris 3866-S Please refund!
I have owned many pocket watches of lesser quality and pricing; I decided to spend more for a "higher quality watch" and it has been a total disappointment! Ordered from Amazon...1st watch was damaged on shipping. Second watch was slow by 3 minutes in a two day period and it just stopped working two weeks later. Sent it to Charles Hubert....it was sent back to me with a repair invoice that stated the watch was cleaned, lubricated and movement was fine tuned "I guess Charles Hubert doesn't do that to their watches before they are sent out various distributors"...now I have the watch...it is keeping better time...when I pull on the chain to get it out of my pocket, the top ring does not remain attached to the watch and I end up pulling only my chain out of my pocket. I wear more jewelry than most Men, some that I make, so I have an appreciation for how to care for my jewelry and...Yes...at this time I want my money back, Charles Hubert! Respectfully, Kevin J. It is pretty just the same
This watch came in running fast over a given period of time there is no telling how much time would have been lost. I returned the watch. It is pretty just the same.

Beautiful
I purchased this watch to wear for my wedding. The watch looks amazing and seems very sturdy. Everything works well. The back is a bit difficult to open, but I appreciate that because it allows the front to be confidently opened alone.
