Summit Mosquito Dunk Tablet, 20 Count (Pack of 1)

We have 3 large rain barrels into which the rain off of our roof runs. We use the water in our gardens. Saves $, but we also want to protect ourselves and our neighbors from mosquitos. This mosquito dunk worked well all spring and summer long. It works from the water's surface so I break a dunk in half and just plunk it into the barrels. There is no scent. It does not affect plants, birds, or critters. Great price for a large quantity!

Before getting into the nitty gritty of my review it’s worth noting that I live in eastern NC and the mosquitos are insane compared to what I am used to when I lived in south New Jersey. My youngest child has skeeter syndrome. I started using these around mid-April of 2025 and the difference in our yard has honestly been massive. We went from getting eaten alive by mosquitoes to being able to stay outside in the evenings without being eaten alive by the bugs. My kids are out there for hours, sometimes until after 8pm, and we’re usually coming inside because it’s bedtime, not because of mosquitoes. One of my kids is very sensitive to mosquito bites, so finding something that actually helps without spraying the whole yard has been a big deal for us. I use them by breaking a dunk into 4 pieces and placing them in buckets of standing water around the yard (sometimes called “doom buckets”). The idea is that mosquitoes lay eggs in the water, and when the larvae hatch, they eat the BTI in the dunk and die. It works quietly in the background without much effort once it’s set up. I noticed a change in the mosquito population in my yard within 10 days. We had no new mosquito bites by week 3. I also like that it’s safe to use around kids, pets, and wildlife, which was important to me. I just refresh them about once a month and don’t have to think about it much in between. I have a calendar event in my phone that goes off every 25 days to remind me to toss in a new dunk piece. It’s not going to make your yard 100% mosquito-free, but it has made a very noticeable difference for us and made being outside much more enjoyable. Pros: Noticeably reduces mosquitoes Easy to use Low maintenance Safe to use around kids and pets Insanely cheap compared to yard sprays that don’t work Cons: Have to consistently use if you actually want to control mosquitos If humidity is high (like within 24 hours of rain) mosquitos will still be hanging out around your property. You need to keep leaf litter cleaned up as mosquitos are attracted to the smell of decaying leaves.

Seems to be doing its job when I remember to add it to our pond. 1 dunk every 30 days. Says it's safe for fish, frogs, and birds but recommends wearing gloves when handling the product. Hmm... weird...

I was reluctant to buy these because they seem rather expensive and I didn’t know if they would work. They work! Do exactly as they say to do and in a month or two your mosquito population will be incidental rather than epidemic. I truly believe that the only mosquitoes on our property deep in the woods were the ones that accidentally flew in from somewhere else, but they were definitely not breeding on our property anymore. We have about a half acre that we use regularly and I put four containers around the property. Worked like a charm. Totally worth the money.

This works really great it's kept us mosquito free for almost a whole summer I have to add a new dunk every month because I live in a rural area but I have three buckets with the mosquito dunks and we are relatively free of mosquitoes

This seller has the best price that I have seen since I first discovered Mosquito Dunks a number of years ago. We had a private organization selling them for 15 cents each but they had to stop due to someone's complaint. A local store here in Norfolk, VA has them for $8.95 for a pack of two. You don't need to use an entire piece unless you have a very large stand of water. I use them in rain barrels and 1/4 of a dunk is sufficient so I will have enough for a long time. I recommend wrapping them in a piece of fine window screen to keep it together, otherwise it will break apart and flow out of the top of a barrel.

Set several mosquito breeder buckets around the garden - 5 gal bucket with water and 1/4 of a dunk. good for 2 weeks, then add another 1/4 dunk. Great price for these

The product works great BUT the packaging is a nightmare. It has been this way for years The backing cardboard is supposedly supposed to peel away exposing the dunks but you have to take a knife and painstakingly cut them out. Be careful you don't cut yourself.

Seen a reduced number of moskitos in the area since using these. I pop one in my drain ever month.

Okay people if you come across this let me tell you exactly how to use these Get a big bucket Fill bucket a quarter way up with water Add in some fruit rinds like lemon orange etc and some leaves and grass from your area Add quarter of a dunk Put mesh over the bucket small enough so an animal can't get in but big enough for skeeters and flies and duct tape it down It will cover a good size area and within a week no mosquitos anywhere near our house... we live in goa thats 💯 mosquito territory and we have one bucket in front and one in back and we have almost eradicated the little demons

great product appeared to work straight away. Update:- 3/06/20 just finished this card of dunks, only use on a large Koi pond to maintain, all the aquatic bugs ( mozzies, black, fruit flies etc.... ) Again only use in the spring/summer here in the UK, very temperature dependant, but they certainly break up the life cycles, I bought an expensive U/V, professional light tube zapper, before finding these! The zapper has not been used for years? The downside is that the product only appears to be available in USA? So the price with shipping, has more than doubled? Why? This makes them prohibitive now. Looks like the Zapper will make a comeback!!!
