Was too good to be true...
I don't get it??? I don't see how this provides any benefit or works. Did I just pay $100 for a plastic mat?UPDATE: We used this for half of a day on a Saturday. Brought it back to our play and sprayed it down with water. We let it sit out hoping that the sand stuck between the layers would eventually sift out. It didn't, but the rings along the edges were rusted by Monday. Definitely not made for the beach.

Don't bank on this working as you plan
Extremely disappointed. Bought to take on cruise to Bermuda so we wouldn't be messing with sandy things. Well I don't know what sand they use in their videos but Bermudan sand DEFINITELY does not go right through it, especially if even slightly moist. Doesn't sift through even when completely dry. So they must be using extremely fine sand. So we still dealt with sandy things at the beach and carried sand back with us.

Doesnโt work with coarse sand
I had high hopes for this mat but was diaapppinted. We live in Hawaii so visit the beach often. The sand in Hawaii (Oahu) is very course. Not the soft, fine sand I have experienced other places. Because of this, the sand doesnโt go through the mat like the pictures/videos show. Instead, it stays on the mat until it is shaken off. I also donโt like how there is no way to hold the mat together once you fold it up. If there was a strap or carrying case, it would make it much easier to carry and store.

Does what it says
we are at the beach now. Love the blanket.. my daughter said it was a little uncomfortable but her normal towel helped with that. con the worset part os folding it up, so sand collects between the top and bottom and you have to shake it out. After a mouth full of sand the first time... I take a little more care.

I use them when I am four-wheeling in places like Death Valley
Works as advertised. I have both a 6x6 and a 8x8 mat. I use them when I am four-wheeling in places like Death Valley, Mojave Desert, Black Rock Playa, Sierra Nevada, and at the beach. Most of the time it goes under our tent, with edges out around the doorways as a entry mat. The bigger mat gets used in the general camp area.It is a ground mat, so I don't get the complaints below about it getting dirty. Duh! That is because it is used in the dirt?? I find that the mat sheds sand, grit, and duff better than a standard tarp. In fine sand it does let the grit flow through and I get less pooling of "stuff" on top of the mat.

Probably the best purchase you can ever make for the beach
Probably the best purchase you can ever make for the beach. All it takes is a little bit of rubbing/patting your hand on the sand and it falls right through. If you can, give it a good shake as you fold it up (maybe just a little more than a standard beach blanket) to get rid of any "captured" sand. I've already had one other person order one after seeing mine in action. My son found it a little rough to lay on by itself (I was fine with it), but it's easy enough to lay a personal towel out on it where you want to lay too. It's so great to just walk onto the mat without having to worry about getting sand where it shouldn't be, nice peace of mind.

The size of the mat is good and the material keeps small particles like sand off the top. I also like that it's reversible, giving you two color options. I've used the mat for only a few months and have to say the stitching quality is lacking. The edges of the mat are separating from the body and there are long threads hanging off that I have to cut. The D-rings that are on the separated edges have fallen off because of the poor stitching. The D-rings are also rusted from being in the rain. If the stitching was improved and the metal on the rings was rust-proof, this would be the perfect mat.

Works great. If sand gets wet it can stick between the layers but as soon as it dries, it all comes as intended.
