This is a real guide trough the variety of issues regarding MSL's professional activities. Usually you have to rely on your peers to gather experience, and that's what the authors did: they put together theory, researches and interviews. A nice guide for those who want to know more broadly about this professional activity.

This is a fantastic book all around. Well written and extremely useful. Especially in that it delivers interview-based perspectives from all angles of the field.

As a practicing doctor, I never knew or realized what a MSL was. In short, MSL or medical science liasons work for pharmaceutical companies in promoting disease state awareness, finding research opportunities for the company, conducting educational seminars and other related duties. Also, they are vital in influencing academic thought leaders and community key opinion leaders about scientific data relevent to the drug or product category a particular company is marketing at that time. In seriously looking towards becoming one for major global pharmaceutical companies and gaining multiple invitations for interviews, I found this book. It is more like a reference that helps people without any knowledge of what a Medical Science Liason is or does find some very concrete answers. The book takes you anywhere from how to make the best CV to keeping up once you have the job to dealing with work/life balance.Special sections are included such as the "The MSL Father/Mother". I especially appreciate how Albert and Sass have provided input from different leaders about the MSL role, whether it is finding a hiring manager's perspective on what they look for in hiring MSLs to busy physicians who benefit from the knowledge that MSLs share and this has been done in an interview/queston and answer format. Using a person's own words to explain something, to me, adds authenticity and unique perspective. There are plenty of websites and references to material about topics discussed in the book. I really like when this is done as no text out there can provide all the information in a particular field and allowing the reader to expand his or her knowledge in specific topics by providing useful references is always a plus. I recommend this book to anyone who is a MSL, wants to be one or to know about the MSL role. It doesn't take long to read through and has got all the information you need in one book.
