My 4 year old grandson is overjoyed with his explorer kit. I’m sure he’ll get hours and hours of fun from it - possibly years! It’s all well made and just right for little hands. I thought the plastic bugs were a bit disappointing but my grandson delighted in hiding them around the garden and then ‘finding’ them. The individual items are neatly packed in a quality presentation box, with the compass and binoculars in their own boxes. It therefore took a while to unpack it all, adding to its appeal. I would definitely buy this item again.

OK - you are not going to be the next David Attenborough with this kit but it is good start! The cost is great when you add up the value of the individual pieces you get. It's all such great fun!!! The bug magnifier is for those strange individuals who actually want to see insects close up!!!! The binoculars work for little ones but don't expect to be able to use them yourself. All the bits fit nicely into the bag that comes with the kit. It is a lovely gift for a little nature lover.

The set is lovely and comes together with a colourful bag which can be carried across the shoulders when out exploring. There are lots of tools to catch insects and observe them, a net, compass and a pair of binoculars which are surprisingly clear and are the perfect size for our eight and five year old daughters. The girls love the set and spend many hours exploring in the park and ‘spying on people’ with their binoculars! (Perhaps not the intended purpose but there you go...) I have given three stars to sturdiness because one of the tools was chipped on arrival but could be repaired with a little sellotape (the seller, however, promptly and graciously offered a 30% refund) and one of the binoculars has lost a tiny piece, which does not however affect its functioning. The girls are delighted and looking forward to using the kit when we go on a safari next year.

Bought this for sons Christmas gift, opened Xmas day to find the bug world container lid was broken, not repairable. The insects are tacky and bad quality. Everything is this kit seems nasty and cheap except for the binoculars which are good.Couldn't return as wrapped up for Xmas and was out of the return window. Thanks alot for disappointing my toddler at Christmas :(

Kids loved the variety, but the torch was cracked and not working from the start. We therefore decided to return as some of the other plastic parts were also not in great shapes.We compared this box to a box a friend got and noted our torch had a different set of internal parts than theirs which was more solid.Would have been good value for money if just a little better built.Finally, instructions were shall we say interesting. Promoting the health benefits to the heart, brain and so on of using the items... odd！

I got this for my soon to be 3 year old nephew - and he loves it. Of course he's supervised when using it, but he understands what to do and takes great delight in looking at all the insects (much to the disgust of his mum). It's all well put together and is definitely good value for money. It is a good gift for such a wide age range too, you can't go wrong.

My 7yo and 5yo love this set. They spent hours outdoor with this. They caught bugs to look at, they had their little adventure in the garden with the compass and had a evening walk in the woods with the touch. They totally love it!! Great money spent for giving them to be interested in nature. We are planning to go to the woods for bug hunting in autumn

The bug catcher snapped within about ten minutes and the magnifying glass fell out on both the handheld and the viewing box.Other than that my child was pretty pleased with the kit. I wouldn't recommend it due to the above but we only needed it for a few days whilst camping so not as concerned but if you want this for any length of time I would look elsewhere.
