Still going strong
The book picks up with the funeral of Ari and I even had tears in my eyes. Then, the kids are taken to DC for some fun explosive adventures which has them decide to take off for a while on their own. Then, Max's mom gets them a gig on a scientists boat and expedition in the Antarctic. Max discovers she is quite jealous over Fangs new love interest a scientist named Brigid. Just when they were starting to relax thoguh, they discover a robot had been put in among them and they go on high alert. They are then captured while Max and Fang go to save Akila, Total, and Angel. They meet their new breed of enemy and a new uber-director who is basically a stack of boxes. They are transported to Miami and find out they are to be auctioned off. They of course do their sarcastic responses which always ticks off the adults and then a hurricane hits. They discover first hand some of the effects that global warming can have by having to try and live through it. It ends up with Max finishing her task of saving the world by talking to congress about things to do in order to protect our world for the future. They are then transported to a new school in virginia that has been designed for them. They arrive on the ribbon cutting day and are about to go back to school only for the voice to cut in and say I have another task and they take off to the air.My only complaint about this book was that it seemed like all the others covered alot more ground even though not a lot of time. But in this one there weren't many questions answered and more that came. Still it was a good story and I had plenty of laughs, a few sad moments, and plenty of great reading.

I don't get why...
I don't get why so many people hated this book. I think at this time in history, we can't be too subtle about things that are hurting the planet. This book was a bit short for my liking, especially since it was the same price as the previous books which were twice the length. That's really my only problem with it, personally. I wish it had been longer with a more drawn out plot, but it was a nice quick read for me. I would usually say, at this point in my review, that if you liked the previous ones in th series, you'll probably like this one, but since so many people hated it, I can't bring myself to do that. I do recommend it to anyone who already read the previous books, but if you have subtlety as a MUST in your reading, maybe you should read this one in pieces, so it doesn't upset you very much at a time. I consider every book in a series worth reading if you want the whole picture, even if every book is not stellar. I get a kick out of seeing each "bad guy" or "villain" get what's coming to them. Give it a shot and maybe you'll not be quite so turned off by this one as other reviewers are now.

Disconnected?
I am a proponent of advocacy for global warming, and climate change. But this book feel so disconnected from the rest of the series. I’m not sure it was the best decision to include the narrative. This book lacks the intriguing suspense of the previous books in the series and that disappoints me. I kept reading for the plot and the characters I love so much, but the storyline just does not seem to work. I’m picking up the next book with excitement because I do love this series, but I don’t like this one book.

Really?
Ok just ignore all the haters this was one of the best maximum ride books I ever read. I mean it doesn't have a lot of or to say as much action as the others but I love all of the books James Patterson wright's there very good...... I'm I pre-teen who loves sci-fi and fantasy no not like princesses but more like dragons and things I also love action and adventure so if you like sci-fi and fantasy or action and adventure or even both (like me...) you would most definitely like this series just you know start from book 1 and go on....... But I have to admit this 1 is a step or 2 down from the other books.... This series actually got me goin.... and that's a lot coming from me.... I'm more of tomboy I usually never read (wow I'm just spitting out data about myself like I'm on some datin sight lol.:) so yeah you will most like love this series of books I started reading the series and all ready I'm done with book 4 can't wait to start book 5...... hope you love the series as much as I do..... =-)

The National Weather Service has issued global warming
(Contains Spoilers) In this novel Maximum Ride and her flock once again save the world from harm. Jeb is not the main concern as he was in the last 3 novels. This time James Patterson tries to warn us about the effects of global warming and what we can do to prevent it from happening. The main boss in this novel is known to the world as the Uber Director. His grotesque assistant Gozen, programmed to kill the flock, also wants to save the world but knowing that humans are the main cause for it. Understand we do things like set up landfills, release toxins into the air polluting it, take but don't give back, kill animals causing more endangered species and extinct ones, give to birth to more than we can handle causing starvation, and one more moonwalk is the last thing this planet needs, why? Because the moon controls the weather on this tiny planet and more pollution means less of it.

Is this a Maximum Ride book? * SPOILERS*
I picked up this book and my first thought was 'Is this a Maximum Ride Book'? The text was twice as large, the book much thinner and the first ten pages or so were devoted to some rubbish prologue that was never refereed to or mentioned after. What did it tell me? That the flock could fly...and of course I didn't know that!Patterson changed Max dramatically in this book, losing her feisty tomboy spark and instead making her a preppy cheerful 'in touch with her feelings' sort of girl. Which went down like a ton of bricks with me. Max and Fang also seem to be stuck in some sort of time loop with their relationship. I felt like Patterson had literally rephrased the scene on the cliff in book three and stuck it in here.Fangs blog which got a few laughs out of me last time seemed to only have been put in to fill up more space and to update the stupider readers on what the plot so far had been. Which leads me to the next point- the plot...If there is one. So Jeb (who now seems to have been totally forgiven)has suggested that the flock potters off to Antarctica and of course, they agree. When there, very little happens apart from some bizarre stuff about a cyborg and some penguins...to tell the truth, my mind had literally switched off at this point so these few chapters just drifted through my mind (which was effectively asleep)without leaving any impression. So, without actually doing any good, the flock are off again but not to the cat-and-mouse game that was so good in the other books. No, they have been captured by a baddie (Itex has now disappeared) we know nothing about and don't care about. The 'Uber' Director. Of what? I told you, we don't know anything about him! Of course, being a complete idiot, he is destroyed by a grade 5 hurricane that he CHOSE to hide in the path of!Another amazingly annoying part to this book was the flocks powers. They seemed to develop a new one about every one every 5 pages, despite the fact that none of them came in use at all. Obviously, Patterson only added them because he could not think of anything else to keep the plot moving.Total also disappointed me. (Hold on- I'll explain how a talking dog can be a let down!)So, Patterson decided to give him the most bizarre mutation-He grew wings.Yes, you heard me right- Patterson grew tired of Iggy having to carry him. Another problem I had with him was his...disturbing crush on a husky. This book brings more questions up than it answers. Patterson decides to destroy the secrets behind 'The Voice' (Which, incidentally was very quiet in this book)and instead, not explain it. The ending is left hanging in the air and instead of ending in a bang, it ended it an unconvincing whimper, leaving the flock's location and future unknown. The witty remarks, Max's sarcasm and general comedy, were the best parts of the last three books, but sadly, all of the comedy was sucked out of this book, leaving it as a dry and empty shell.Sorry this review has been so long, but I'm finally at my last point- GLOBAL WARMING. Yes, It deserves capitals. We all know that global warming is important but I cannot accept it when, despite the fact that they were no help to the research teams, Max ends up giving a 25 page speech to the very sort of 'officials' she has been trying to avoid for the last three books, saying that we are all "equal". She's a genetic experiment who everyone has been trying to kill and she talks about equality? That's taking it too far!So, to sum my review up... rubbish. I can't think of anything good about the book ,but if you think it sounds equal to the others, then go ahead, read on. If you are a die hard Maximum Ride fan, then read on with caution- you will be disappointed! If you are a new reader then I would recommend not approaching this book with even a ten foot barge-pole and those are my final words on the subject!

Nothing like the other 3....
After reading the other 3 fantastic installments to the series, I was over the moon when this book came out, because I for some reason thought that the third one was the end book. To be honest, at the moment I wish it was! It's like Patterson has got bored halfway through his own series, and is now writing down any old drivle to put on the shelves! The other 3 books seemed well thought over and the plots, I thought, were amazing. I mean, the least Patteron could have done was make this book as LONG as its predecesors, this ones half the size, with DOUBLE the size of writing! I finished it in about 2 hours, and no way was I as gripped with this book as I was with the others. Also, in this book, everything is so rushed! I mean, why is everyone suddenly getting powers! They hardly ever got ANY in the other 3, why chuck it at them all now! And they didn't even USE them throughout any of the book! The villian is also completely random...there is not other way to describe him. Where the heck did he come from!? There is no connection whatsoever! And it's all about Global Warming!!! I mean, any fiction book about Global Warming is bad news. I know it's bad, Patterson, but so does everyone else! We don't need YOU to tell us! Just stick to the fiction please! PLUS...They start working for the government.... I found that soo unbeleivable, since the flock are always going on about how they hate it and all that!Overall, up against the other 3 this would get a 1 star, while the others get 5, since they were some of the best books I have ever read! I give this a 3 star because I still found it hilarious in places. At least Patterson managed to keep a bit of humour! Thank God. I think Patterson is going to lose some fans over this one!

Good Book
Not sure why people were so negative about this book.I've been reading them back to back, so I didn't feel the characters changed, I understood why they were in the location they ended up in.The story was a bit short and I wonder if the author was under pressure to produce a book. But I felt it was in keeping with the others - hopefully just a stepping stone to the next great story in the series.
