A book that could change your life.
Very occasionally a book comes along that I realize will change my life. This is one of them. Superbly structured it begins with a precise pace that paints a full color picture of the war torn environment. And when it takes off like a rocket it is impossible to put down: I read it in 4 hours with my heart racing. The lead character is so transparent I became him and I went off on an epic journey through the streets and alleys of a island city enwrapped in intrigue and mystery. The devise that propels the action is as powerful as the holy chalice. The text is as simple and precise as a Hemingway novel, not a word is wasted. Chaker has a brilliant talent for describing his characters and their lives in a few sentences. And he punctuates them with little gems of truths. So what in the book changed my life? I have a new understanding, an awaking of the middle east through the lives of common people, like me. For the first time I see, through this book, we are all one in our desires, needs and fear. Read it, it may change your life too.

A story of how war builds up walls, and how love tears them down
I am always happy to find fresh new authors to read, and Chaker Khazaal does not disappoint. Words can not express my gratitude for finding this gem. There are so many things to love about this book. From the first page to the last it is truly a book lover's dream. A captivating novel, Confessions of a War Child transcends gender, race, and culture. This is a well written story that unlike most fiction reads more like a personal diary that could easily mirror our own lives. It is a story that speaks to the dark reality of our world of how war builds up walls, and offers an enlightened solution of how love can tear them down. I would recommend this book to anyone who is searching for inner strength to fulfill their destiny. This book speaks life, courage and purpose to the daily fears we all face in life.

What a beautiful book!
This is an interesting read that quickly takes you on a fun filled journey all the while reminding you that love and human compassion are at the root of all great stories. This drama is told from the perspective of someone who truly understands what it means to love another. The relationship between the narrator and his lover speaks throughly of sacrifice, passion, and commitment to their unconditional love.As the fictional tale of Kabar and Saghar comes into full view, forgiveness, family, and conflict are all woven together, ultimately teaching us about ourselves and our never ending desire in the pursuit of purpose. One of my favorite lines is โI wonโt let the circumstances in my life define who I am. I will create myself as I wishโ. This brilliant line is told from a compelling character. Someone who from you might not expect such self awareness, but soon realize is someone who has something interesting to say.I strongly recommend everyone read this great story.

Beautifully told stories.. a fusion of reality with fiction
Confessions of a War Child is a beautiful journey that leaves you on edge and curious about each of the personalities in the book. Chaker fuses reality with fiction into a work of genius where all his characters are based on real life personalities in somewhat of a fantasy land bringing to light the real life experiences, reasons and motives behind war & humanizing victims. After finishing the book recently, I had the chance to meet the author yesterday and hear more of the background around it - truly impressive! Can't wait for the next one...
