Egyptian Tarot Deck (Egyptian Tarot, 2)

I'd said originally that I thought the cards were slightly flimsy, but I compared them to three other tarot decks last night, and they seem to be the same heft as those. My original, unedited review is below.)PROS: The art is beautiful and seems true to the ancient Egyptian aesthetic and the glyphs I know (I'm still a beginner, though, in Middle Egyptian). I like how the backgrounds on the cards looks like papyrus. The artwork is clear, each card is gorgeous, and the look of the deck is very cohesive.Each card is multilingual (English, Italian, Spanish, French, and German). The numbers on the cards are very clear, which is a necessity when you're dealing with nontraditional tarot decks. Each of the minor arcana cards are listed in very clear Arabic (standard) numerals (1-10) at the top, and the major arcana have the Roman numerals 0-21 at the top. I like the division for easier sorting.The little paper booklet (the size of the cards) that comes with it is translated into all of the languages. The English portion is just the first 14 pages. I really like how care was taken in the interpretations to really give the cards an Egyptian feel, such as the Two of Cups reads 'the staircase of Seth- desire, artistic affinity, disagreements to be smoothed out.' So it does take into account the traditional interpretations but adds a different, Egyptian angle, which I enjoy. This comes in handy when you actually know about Egyptian history and mythology, so you can infer more than what the little booklet can actually say.CONS: However, if you don't know much about glyphs, Egyptian history/ myths, you might be at a bit of a loss to use these cards in a way that is beyond a traditional deck. Meaning that for instance, using the same Two of Cups card I referenced above, while the meaning in the booklet was similar but nuanced in the Egyptian way, the art itself probably would not have given you the same idea as the booklet, at least, not intuitively. Maybe if your knowledge of M.E. glyphs is more advanced than mine, you'd be able to understand the words below the chalices, and you could get clues that way. But I think the average person is just going to end up using the traditional meanings for each of these cards, because unless you memorized the booklet, you'll miss out on the lovely nuances of this deck. I attached a picture of this Two of Cards cup so you can see for yourself.The cards are flimsier than I'd expect for a tarot deck, but I'll just be gentle with them.OVERALL: I'm still very happy with them, and I'm inspired to learn even more Middle Egyptian so that I can better understand the glyphs on the cards. I think that anyone who likes tarot and ancient Egypt would probably enjoy these.

I looove these cards. Beautiful artwork and despite some of the other reviews saying they're hard to use for a reading I bought them anyway. I have to say those reviews are wrong. If someone was to sit down with these cards & the booklet that comes with it and take a little time out to understand Kemetic (ancient egyptian) symbolism then these cards are a breeze to learn. Also as with any deck you should be gentle. The reviews saying they're cheaply made just must be very rough with their handling. Granted they are thin but with proper care & storage you'll be fine

The cards are really cool looking, the card stock that they are printed on is good.If you are knowledgeable on ancient egyptology, you be good.Little more difficult than RWS tarot if you are newer in tarot reading.Still, nice quality, and something to grow into.

Being new to tarot cards I can honestly say I still love this deck it's my first...ever deck I love the images....being African American this deck fit me and it very weird how I'm seeing all the male energy cards reversing to feminine well upside down when I have them come up in a spread thanks well worth the wait..I was impatient but they came
