Selmer La Voix ll Alto Saxophone Outfit-Silver

This Selmer SAS280 alto sax is a remarkable find! It arrived in perfect condition ahead of the scheduled delivery date and was well packaged. Having played professionally for over 40 years, I can definitively state that this instrument plays as well as any professional model Selmer Paris, Yamaha or Yanigasawa I have ever played. Projection and tonal quality is rich and full. Other than construction quality, the one characteristic that really distinguishes the lesser horns from the much more expensive "professional" horns is how well an instrument plays in tune with itself, and the intonation on this saxophone is spot on in every register. The fit and finish is beautiful. The mechanical action is smooth and quiet, and altissimo is flawless. I purchased a "used, like new". outfit for $1799 and it is virtually indistinguishable from new. When compared to the price of professional instruments ($6,000+) or even other intermediate grade horns ($3,000+), this model is a tremendous bargain. I never expected to be able to own such a fine instrument in this price range. An exceptional value...I could not be more pleased!

My son and my husband both love it.May have to eventually get another so they don’t fight over it.Horn could easily be marched with, but won’t, to keep it safe.Plays smoothly and effortlessly, as one would expect from Selmer.Using an old C* mouthpiece on it.Haven’t tried the stock mouthpiece yet.Will update this review later, with pictures and how the horn does in the long run, if possible.Beautiful horn to look at and play.My husband wrote this review.
