Robert Frost's Beautiful Poetry Helps Student Change!!!
I work with high school girls who have severe learning disabilities including social and emotional problems. One such student was having boundary issues, so I got a text off of the internet of Robert Frost's The Mending Wall with the famous line, "Good fences make good neighbors." We read the whole poem and discussed it as a lesson on keeping one's boundaries and respecting those of others. She learned a difficult lesson about boundaries very well from this poem, and has begun to act differently as she generalizes what she learned. Well, this student fell in love with Robert Frost's poetry when I got a second poem off the internet. He was a wise man who put things in very interesting ways. As a gift, I bought her this volume of Frost's poetry, and she absolutely L-O-V-E-S it!!!! We pick out a poem each day and go through it to learn what we can from Frost about his outlook on that which surrounded him. My student, not usually very good at writing, has begun to write poetry using Frost as a model; she is trying to express things and ideas in colors as she read in one of the poems in this beautiful book that discusses the background of each poem, or sets of poems throughout the book in a thoroughly engaging manner. My student loves this book so much that she asked me to write an inscription on the inside of it for her, which I was only too happy to comply with as I love my students dearly. This is magnificent poetry at Frost's very best and a volume not to be missed.

"ROBERT FROST, the first America who could be reckoned a master-port by world standards."
I am an avid reader and love to write poetry also. Robert Frost sits on my desk as I write this. He's the best if you like Poems.

Frost Fan
I should start off by saying that I am a fan of Frost's work. As a New Englander, it resonates deeply with me. However, this collection of poems has all of the best, and many lesser known poems. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan, and to everyone who is looking for beautiful and inspiring poetry.

Perfect Introduction to Robert Frost with beautiful illustrations
Bought this for a 14-year-old for Christmas, and it was received with great delight! Now she wants the entire collection, which she will certainly get for her birthday.

but the reason behind that is very good: Frost's poetry is widely accessible
You probably ready "The Road Not Taken" in high school. It's a bit of reading list cliché, but the reason behind that is very good: Frost's poetry is widely accessible. It has amazing imagery and the man can string a sentence together to make words actually beautiful, but he doesn't let poetic form obscure meaning. You can easily follow the narrative of the poem and philosophical questions he poses are pretty well on the surface of every poem. But it's still a pleasure to read and ponder. And "The Road Not Taken," while beautiful and poignant throughout a person's life, is not at all his only worthwhile piece. I come back to "Mending Wall" again and again in my head, thinking about the line questioning whether good walls make good neighbors. It's especially poignant in these days of border policy debate. Another line that pops into my head often is "nothing gold can stay." It's a beautiful line talking about the transitive nature of the season, alluding of course to the season of our lives. I hear it in my head frequently and I think it's my mind reminding me that I need I need to be in the moment appreciating what I have. It's a great line among many in Frost's works.
