Good Boy

Crazy hot, funny, romantic and soooo Blake!.
I didn't know Blake had it in him. When we last saw Blake, he was the obnoxious team mate of Wes' and living right upstairs from Jamie and Wes, he was almost the third roommate. He even got on MY nerves. So I was a little hesitant to read his story but coming from Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, I knew it had to be good and I was SO right.I love that another book about Wes and Jamie was written, but even more pleased that Blake starred in this one. I can say that now AFTER I read it.In Us, I wasn't sure if I could trust Blake. He was a big doof ball who was always getting in the way. Even Jesse cals him out on it, he's loud, mouthy and too cheerful at times. (As if that's a bad thing?) But in the end, he truly cared about Wes and Jamie. In this book, he meets up with Jesse, one of Jamie's older sisters, at the wedding of Jamie and Wes. Even though they had a one time fling, Blake still has the hots for her and as hard as she resists Blake, his crazy charm wears off. Eventually.I love seeing the true Blake. While he's big, clumsy and obnoxious at times, he truly cares for his friends and family. He would do anything for them and he goes to great lengths to protect his family too, even at his own expense. The REAL Blake is a GOOD guy. He is sweet and confident. I love his conversations earlier in the book. He knows Jesse will come around. His way of thinking is comical. I found myself laughing when his point of view (POV) was shared.Jesse is a mess when this book starts. She needs a do over. She needs a new career. Currently, she is in the Wedding Planning business and she hates it, even though she is good at it. She enlists the help of her friend Dyson, yes, like the vacuum, who seems to be her sounding board and her pick me up when she is down. The best kind of friend to have. He helps her figure out what she wants to do, but it costs money, something she doesn't have. When she finally decides on her next career path it forces her to cross paths with Blake, Jamie and Wes again. While Jamie and Wes take their sister under their wing Blake is ready to give her the world. But Jesse must be on the same page with Blake before she does. Two things stand in the way though, Jesse is NOT good at relationships and her main focus is her new career choice. These two characters are written so well. Crazy, funny and never serious, Blake's lines are perfect for his character. And I mean perfect. His mannerisms and actions, his attitude about life are all so perfect for his character. He worries about what's important, takes care of his family, has good values and just has fun. Period. Jesse has a lot of confidence issues and again, she's very well written too. She needs little things to boost her confidence as she second guesses herself after every stepping stone in her new career path. She has a very important conversation that changes things for her, makes her feel much better and that opens the doors for her in many ways. Yet they balance each other somehow. Like in the hospital visit to see Leila.I'm happy to read about the hockey team again. Happy to have more Jamie and Wes and see their interactions and learn about a new dimension to the team. This story line was very well thought out and thoroughly researched giving credibility to the story. My opinion of Blake has changed. He is crazy hot and fun and perfect for Jesse.

A light read with likable characters
In Good Boy we get Blake and Jess's story. We meet both characters in “Us”, which is a sequel to “Him”, where we get the story of Jamie and Wes. Blake is Wes's teammate from hockey, and Jess is Jamie's sister. The characters meet each other for the first time in “Us”, when they are charged with taking care of Jamie while he is sick. Oh, and they also hook up during this meeting. However, Good Boy can be read as a standalone, and it is not necessary to have read Him or Us. That being said, I would encourage everybody to read these books anyway (especially Him), just because Wes and Jamie's story is so amazing. (Don't rule it out just because it is a MM-romance.)Good Boy starts with Jamie and Wes's wedding, which in itself is enough of a reason to read it I think. Jess is planning her brother's wedding and are quickly coming to realize that party planning isn't the right career path for her after all. It doesn't help that Blake, who is Wes's best man, is trying to pick up where they left off in Toronto, and is also interfering with her plans for the perfect wedding. After the wedding, Jess finally breaks it to her family that party planning isn't for her, and that being a nurse is her destiny. This isn't easy, because Jess already feels like a screw up for changing career paths so often.Jess's new career path takes her to nursing school in Toronto. Naturally, she often runs into Blake, who lives in the same building as Jamie and Wes. Blake wants Jess, and pursues her in classic Blake-style. Jess on the other hand, has no time for Blake, who she considers childish and depthless. However, Jess soon realizes that Blake is more than meets the eye, and that he is a genuinely good guy with an easy smile and a big heart.I am really thorn about how to rate this book. It is a light read, with likable characters. Especially Blake is just really lovable and genuine. However, the story doesn't have much angst, and the characters aren't very complex. I read “Him” and “Us” right before this one, and compared to them this one just felt a bit uninteresting and too “light”. In the end, I will give this book four stars, because I do think it is better than many of the other contemporary romances I have read lately, and because I might judge it a bit more harshly because “Him” was such an amazing read.

Hockey and dogs and more laighter than you can be prepared for.
Good Boy is the first book in these lovely ladies' new hockey series WAGs (Wives And Girlfriends)..This new series by this amazing author pair is picking up where we left off in US, the second book in the prequel MM duology about Wes and Jamie, or Wesmie which is the bestest ship name ever. The WAGs series is about the Toronto hockey team and the lovelife of the friends and teammates of Wes.This first book is all about our favourite goofball and Wes's best friend, Blake Riley who we got to know in US first and Jess Canning, Jamie's big sister who was also there in US.They thought they're never going to see each other again after that one mistake of a day but being made of honour and best man at a wedding complicates things.Jess is slowly going crazy because her life is about to turn around.. again... and her family already thinks she can't decide for herself what to do. And now Blake's antics are a constant in her life which doesn't make things easier.Blake is determined to prove he's not the immature bachelor everyone thinks he is. And he's set his eyes on the beutiful blond who seems hell bent on rejecting him.Blake and his crazy hides a vulnerable soul and Jess despite her own insecurities might just be the person who can repair what once was broken. What's better than hockey players in a romance book? Hoceky players with dogs! Blake and Jess's story was funny with some blanaced angst and of course... hockey! If I pick up a book from these ladies the fun is absolutely guaranteed. I loved every moment and of course there was enough Wesmie to make everything more perfect.Absolutely loveable characters, a fulfilling, fun story about bringing out the best in someone and hockey and dogs and more laughter than you can be prepared for.If you loved Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus and Briar U series and the author pair's HIM duology then this series is a must! The perfect amount of fluff and angst to entertain you!

Totally fan-girl for these authors!
I loved 'Him' and 'Us' by these authors so it came as no surprise that I loved this book equally as much. They have such a gift for writing such amazing, likable characters. I found Jess to be such a relate-able character. Dealing with the pressure of trying to find herself and prove to her family that she's not the flighty, irresponsible one. That's a struggle that I think a lot of readers can appreciate if not relate to. And Blake is an all around great guy. Sweet, genuine and totally lovable. There was drama in this book but not the over the top unnecessary kind which can be tiresome. I also really enjoyed getting to see Jamie and Wes again as they are one of my favourite book couples. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

sweet and hot
This story was so funny.Love the H/h banter and the slowly way they discover what they feel to each other. I just feel there should have been more pages. It ended too quickly.

Good Boy - romance cinco estrelas
