Dorman with the save!
Sure, the day after I received this part, there is a 20% discount on it and I've almost never seen Dorman offer any discount. -_- Regardless, this is another great product from Dorman, I can always count on them. This door handle is very close in quality and design to the OEM handle on my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 base v6. The only difference is that the back of this handle itself is smooth, whereas the OEM was completely textured. Very similar weight of the Dorman versus OEM, based solely on my absolutely flawless judgement, no scale required. If an OEM option isn't available, Dorman is always your next best option. The handle replacement is great, albeit a pain in the arse to get to just for a solid 3 minutes of labor to get the old handle out and the new handle in. I would recommend all Dorman products period.

It works
My original handle broke off internally so I ordered it his replacement. It is of the same design as factory. It installs just like the factory one and everything matches up. You have to take off the door panel and stuff but was easy to replace if you take your time. It functions just like the factory one. Hopefully it will be more durable than the factory one.

Not as hard as some people make you think.
Handle seems as okay as a chinese made plastic handle can be. I replaced a Taiwan made handle that gave me a couple of years but that lost the pivot pin at the front of the handle....I can fix it for a spare, and will.If you've never done one of these, I suggest you watch a couple of videos first to get the lay of the land. 1A auto has one, BUT....once you're past the door panel removal, and where they show you where the two nuts are that you access with a 10mm and extension, stop. You do not need to mess with the window, the regulator, or any of that, and you don't need to remove the arm from down below. You can reach the third nut by reaching up inside the square opening and feeling it out. It's tight, but I'm 71, have arthritis, and I'm six inches too short for my weight and I don't have a problem. I used a stubby 10mm ratcheting box wrench, but any wrench will work, just slower. One that last bolt is out, you can pull the old handle partially out and disconnect the rods. It takes a little maneuvering, but it's not bad. Replace the lock cylinder into the new handle, reconnect the rods, and work the handle back into the door. One thing most videos don't cover is that there are a lot of different ways the door panel is attached. In my case (2001 GMC Sierra) there was no screw behind the manual lock slide. There was the one by the door handle inside, and one along the very bottom of the door panel. Some have two screws, front and back, hidden behind pop offs about midway up the door panel. If you try to remove the panel and it won't come loose, do another search for screws....GM was creative and not consistent with where they put them.

Good Price and Good Quality
The OEM handle on my '03 Suburban broke after 185,000 miles and one too many sub-zero Montana winters. The old one broke off right at the metal part that actuates the rod. This one appears exactly the same as the OEM in terms of look, feel, weight and apparent quality. Been installed for a couple of days now, looks and works as good the old one. Installation was easy after finding the right video online and like many others, taking the door apart took longer than replacement but is easy, including transfer the lock from the old handle. It's true the top not is a little harder to get to but it's not too bad, I just pulled back some of the plastic and reach up and was able to get a socket and ratchet on it without much trouble. Just go slow on removing the nuts and don't drop them down in the door and you'll be fine. It's also quite satisfying to successfully repair something on my vehicle for under fifteen bucks that even at a cheap shop would be at least a hundred!
