most discs unrecordable
I bought Sony discs because of their good quality reputation. However, even though the first 1/4 of the discs were very good, from then on they were not recordable (I was able to record for about an hour and then I was told the disc was full or it it could not be used to record). I am very disappointed in this Sony product and will not purchase again.

Great DVDs that weather Amazon's packing fairly well
I burn about 3,000 DVDs a year as a free service for local musicians, so I'm constantly looking for the best combination of price and quality. Memorex DVDs have served me well until the last few months, but the last 4 or 5 spindles have been extremely problematic. That's what caused me to switch to the Sony DVDs when I find them at a good price, and they have been fantastic. No more problem with failed burns on my PC or my 5 tray duplicator. (PS--Both the Memorex and the Sony have a lot of blank space for hand labeling the DVDs which is important to me.)Since this is an Amazon review, I need to mention how the packaging holds up to the dismal packing job done by Amazon. My order of 6 packs of 50 ended up with 1 spindle broken open and some DVDs spilled out. I threw away about 10 disks that were too scratched. The other 40 disks in that pack were usable. The other 5 spindles took a beating but held together. That's about as good as one could hope for when ordering DVDs from Amazon. My gut feeling is that you'll have less damage with the packs of 50 than you will with the packs of 100, but that's just my guess.

More expensive that others, but worth the money for packaging and quality.
They're a little expensive compared to the absolute bottom of the barrel DVD-Rs you can find, but the packaging is fantastic. There are cardboard inserts to keep the blank discs from rattling, which can result in scratches that make any number of discs unusable when you get them. These are "-R" discs, and there was a fight years ago about the -RW and +RW standard, so if you have a really old disc burner, you may have to check your drive to see if they can be written to. Drives that will do both have a "+/-" symbol on the front of the drive, drives that will do one or the other have either a "-RW" or a "+RW"I'm 10 discs into this 50 pack and I have yet to get a bad one, so I recommend these. I've used them before and I've been very happy with them.

very strange package
Except for the package, this product would get 5 stars. I have bought this product previously, and it has always come in a standard spindle that holds 50 disks - the same as every other brand. Not this time. There is a bottom spindle, but NO TOP. You cannot tell this from the picture. It comes with a wraparound paper Sony label. Then the spindle is shrink wrapped without a top cover. Even if you have a spare top for a standard spindle, it will not fit this spindle because the form is different. I store my DVDs in the spindles they came in. That will not work with this spindle, since there is no top. The DVDs are good quality, but the package is very strange. Hope this helps.

Great price! Great design! Great functionality! Very few disc errors in comparison!
I almost exclusively buy Sony blanks in both DVD-R and CD-R. Occasionally I have tolerated TDK. Great thing about them is they don't cover themselves with all sorts of insane writing and advertising (what is there is well hidden and very tasteful). The greatest thing about Sony discs I can explain best with CD burning. MOST OTHER brands will NOT allow you to overburn (go past the supposed 80-minute limitation of these discs. Sony you can burn up to like 81:27. That's saved me in a number of cases. Basically they allow you to take FULL advantage of the disc as it is structured and not how it is "programmed". The CON with this particular disc package is the spindle in which they arrived. There is no outside cover to protect and "seccure" them for storage. Not any longer. Guess they're saving 10-cents in plastic packaging, huh? BTW, a PRO, they are absolutely priced VERY WELL in contrast to even lesser companies. Frankly I don't know of any "better" companies.

Good discs , worthless spindle box :/
The dvd-r dics are very good Sony quality, no problems. But the spindle box does NOT have any cover to go over the discs. If you have another empty spindle box and cover, then you can pick up the wholestack of discs, and move them to the old storage spindle box for storage.Or to any other storage system you have.I always have empty spindle boxes after using up a whole package of discs,so I the missing storage box cover was no issue with me.To be clear there was a bottom with spindle sticking up,but there was not any plastic cover to go over the discs. There wasonly cellophane covering on the top.The discs themselves are fine.

i got these at great price $11.oo and they work perfect in my recorder
One must realize that not all dvd recorders are the same. they are not created equil when it comes to reading discs. sorry to say each recorder has built in technology to hopefully to make all discs work but that isn't always the case. I have a nice syvania that prefers tdk discs and rejects Memorex totally. hmmm??? sony works ok and verbatim but those have occasional rejects. I just got a cheap Magnavox recorder at wallmart and it appears to not be finicky at all. Sony is my favorite. its easy to write on with a sharpy permant marker and is so durable mailing thru the automatic mail stamping system with no breakage. Very nice and stong dvd disc!! this batch of 50 bundles performed flawless. At $11 per 50 what a delightful deal.Amazon ROCKS!!! very happy

Buenos
