Works great for me
I have been using this for over 1.5 years and it's a great price for a pretty good case. The wire mesh is pretty solid, the power adapter is too big, the blue light is a little too bright, and the one time installation as lots of people said takes some time. It's not hard to do, just takes some time with the screws.I would buy again if I needed another case.

Cheap and works but needs refinement
This external enclosure was a good price. Also it is low profile and looks good with the black mesh enclosure. However, there are a couple things preventing this from being a great product:1. Installation is difficult. It requires two different screwdrivers to remove the panels and secure the HDD to the internal chassis. It also requires removal of both sides to access the internals. Panel screws were pretty weak and not philips-head; I almost stripped one on them because of the slotted head. However, they were thoughtful enough to add one of each kind in case they were lost or damaged.2. The LED indication light is in the back of the enclosure. I would prefer it be in the front as it sits with the cords and such in the back. They could have remedied this but putting the led more toward the top; with the mesh panels it would have easily shown even if it was kept in the back.3. The stand for putting it on its side was too wide for my tastes; it looked a bit shaky on its side. I just kept it flat on my desk. However, the most important thing was that it actually worked and let me provide back up space for my computer's data, so I am willing to overlook these shortcomings. I hate to nitpick especially with the price but they almost have a great product on their hands.

Great Enclosure for three days - terrible support
This seems to be a high quality enclosure and worked immediately when connected to my PC and Sony SMP-N100.It also looks good sitting next to my Eagle Tech speaker system. It has a rather bright blue power LED and a slightly dimmer red activity LED that show through the mesh panel. The power supply isn't that big either; it's smaller than most of the other enclosures I've come across. It's a good enclosure for the first few days, like every other Chinese made pos coming into this country. If you need tech support, then you'll be better off just sending it back. The support phone line is answered in China and only during Chinese business hours by someone who only speaks Chinese.

Good at First then Unreliable
I have been using this on my Mac Pro with the USB 2 output and cable. Computer found the drive very well at first then there was increasing difficult with recognition. Also, the drive started dropping offline more and more frequently and I found that I had to use the disk utility to "repair" the drive. I purchased a Macaully USB/Firewire/eSATA enclosure and just installed it yesterday uwing the new Firewire 800 cable I purchased at the same time. Much easier to install the drive than with this unit which requires fiddling with 12 screws. I will have to wait and see if there are any dropouts with the new enclosure but so far, so good which suggests that it was this Eagle Tech enclosure at the root of the problem.

Very Nice
Why I bought this:My Intel iMac just decided to died one day. I took it to see the Apple "Genius," he told me to F-over more than $1000 so they can do test and figure out what is wrong with it; I can have it back next week. I asked whether if Apple do data recovery and if my data will be deleted. They told me if I buy a new Mac, it will ONLY cost $100. Also, they told me the data will most likely (95% chance) be gone. So I packed my things, when home, and got on Amazon and bought this and Vantec CB-ISATAU2 SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter, just in case.Review:Structure: Case look really nice, you can clearly see the HDD and component inside. Good for heat dissipation. Two LED lights indicates Power and data processing. 1 USB port and 1 ac power in.Installation: Very easy. Lose eight screws, put Hard Drive in, tighten 8 screws.Actual Usage: Only supports USB2.0, takes a long time to transfer file. The AC is the single unit plug in type that blocks 2 sockets. It is about 5 feet long, a little too short for me.Bottom Line: It looks nice, works wonderful. I'd recommend it.FYI: Hard Drive taken directly from an iMac won't show up on Windows, additional software is required. I took my the whole day to recovery all my data.

Awesome for the price
I bought this enclosure for my 1TB Seagate HDD so i could use as a storage hard drive.Pros:It works prefect, its just plug and playThe power supply is enough for my HDD and its not like other types of 3.5 inch enclosures that dont support 1TB or more, this one does the jobIt is well vent and so far it has never got hotter than it is supposed toCons:This is not really a con but... It takes a few minutes to set up your HDD, so it you plan to use more than one HDD for this enclosure i wouldn't recommend this one, because it has a bunch of screws. But like i said, its not really a con, i like how it is and its being exactly what i paid and expected for.

Takes forever to install a hard drive in it
Pros: Looks great in pictures, and has vents to cool off the drive.Cons: Looks horrible in real life, and it takes forever to install the drive. This product looks great in pictures, but horrible in real life. I was ready to slip that past, and tried to install a hard drive in it.It took forever to install the hard drive. First of all it takes forever to get the sides off the enclosure it self, and on top of that the enclosure is secured with multiple amount of screws. When installing on Windows 7 and Vista, it didn't recognize it right away. I had to manually go into computer management and add the drive from there. Very impractical!!! I would recommend getting a Vantec NexStar 3, that's what I have now.The only reason I gave this product 3 stars is because of Amazon's great customer service. They took the product back and refunded my money and paid for the shipping charges as well. IMHO Amazon is the best online shopping store ever period.
