Carson LT-30 5x30 LinenTest Folding Loupe Magnifier, Black

A decent loupe. The stand is metal and well enough machined. It feels solid and stands two inches high. The view is pretty good too. Not perfect but very good for the money - certainly fit for purpose. The scales are are not just painted on, they are etched in deeply enough not to wear off and are nice and clear. The imperial and metric scales make it a good choice. I bought it for the shed to look at the teeth on my hand saws and the edges of plane irons and chisels. I didn't like the idea of moving my head around sharp edges - you just never know. With this, I can can place the base on the respective edge and move my head closer knowing that I have the loupe between my head and eye and the sharp edge. The scales make it so that I can count the teeth per inch on fine saws and the 5x magnification offers good depth of field and plenty enough magnification. To protect the tool edges, I have carefully placed some thin electrical tape on the base. A good buy.

I shouldn't have bee surprised that this was plastic - my other, original line tester was metal - but it works well, is slightly bigger than my original one and has a clear view. I use it to focus on a large format camera glass screen and it works well for this purpose as well as its intended one.

Nie piece of kit, well made and inexpensive. Very happy with it.

I work in a QA department and find the need to occasionally inspect very small items and this is excellent for the job and has saved me so much time and set my co workers off wondering what it is used for - I will eventually tell them.

Very handy - good quality. I had expected a little lamp - but, because it is larger than I thought, it is easy to use anyway. Recommended.

For under 10 bucks I picked up two and they're fantastic. I use them to examine negatives over a backlight.
