More Anguished English: an Expose of Embarrassing Excruciating, and Egregious Errors in English (Intrepid Linguist Library)

Timely delivery. Enjoy the essays. They are always good for an evening of sheer fun.

I haven't yet read this collection (it's a gift), but I have practically memorized "Anguished English," and it's clearly more of the same. The book was sent promptly, and was exactly as described. I have noted that it is from a different publisher than the first book, and has a slightly smaller, less spacious typography. But it's about to join its predecessor as the best possible bathroom book. And, of course, read aloud party book!

Fast ,fun read when you need a pick-me-up. I love language and found it entertaining I appreciate how hard it is to collect theseitems. Much of the subject matter that creates the humor is similar., though. The nice thing about this type of book is that you can stop reading and pick it back up anytime later without losing the story--since there is no "story." You can read it several times over as well or read parts aloud to someone else to lighten the mood and have a good laugh.

Years ago, a 2 page leaflet named "A Myth is a Female Moth" came into my possession, and it was long before internet. When I took it so my co-workers could read it, one of them went down on his knees, then flat on the floor laughing. He could not breathe for a minute and calling for help was an option. When I ran across this and, many years later, googled it, low and behold there is a book. This is so entertaining, and presented so cleverly, it is truly joyous to read. I recommend it to be read by anyone human. In this day and time, it might just be the only thing humorous one can run across in a day!

I have this book and have loved it for years, so it was fun to find it again so that I could give it as a gift. I've actually ordered several of these and am happy with the book and delivery...

Richard Lederer had access to good resources for this book. I received my original copy as a birthday gift. I started reading aloud and entertained those attending by laughing so hard I was crying and could not see through the tears. People may have been laughing at me as much as the stories. Lederer even asked for contributions and my wife now stars in the introduction to a chapter in one of his other books. My wife says the darnedest things. If you find lawyers and doctors a bit strange you will enjoy actual situations regarding these people.

This is the third book of Mr.Lederer's that I have purchased. Each time, I am pleasantly surprised by the content. After reading his first book, I did not think he could improve on his unique literary craft, but he has definitely struck gold on this one!! Literally laughing in class as I read this while students are working. This also makes a great resource for teachers wanting to help students overcome common grammar issues.

Hilarious! Read it together with a friend or family member.

As a fan of Lederer I know his skill in unravelliny the beauty of the English language.
