what is the total carrying weight ?

Extremely light! I would guess maybe a pound or two. Not much more. With the cover it is very easy to hold. carry or tie down to a pack.

Would this work for lobstering? Not too bouyant?

I've never lobstered, but it has nice length, is sturdy and handles 3-5 lb. bass and catfish with no problem.

Can the net be removed

i think so the net. the net is just slide around it, unscrew the loop and it should come off(?)
