Works great and a great investment
One of the best investments you can make for your home. The batteries last for years and this $12 item can alert you before you experience hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of damage. This can mean the difference between finding a leak before it causes damage (and turning off the source), or not knowing and experiencing damage. I recommend placing one of these in any spot where you can have a leak: Under the kitchen sink, by the washing machine, near the water heater/boiler, near basement walls, etc.

Very cheap insurance
After spending around 1500 bucks to repair water leaks, I decided to invest in several water alarms. This is a great unit as it can be used without the 6' extension or place the sensors behind hidden areas. It takes a 9 volt battery that you supply. It takes no juice unless it is in use, so a battery should last a very long time. The alarm is loud and annoying, so you won't just walk past it unless you are deaf. I'm nearly so and can hear it just fine. The directions say you can splice on up to 100' of wire for really out of the way places. Have not done that, so can't say if it works or not. I have 11 alarms set up, covering toilets, sinks, dish and clothes washers and water heater and a shower. I also used the Zircon 63931 detector in areas that are easily seen and monitored. In total, 12 units cost me $120. I recommend them highly.

Epic fail and it wasn’t the batteries.
I had two under kitchen sink. One on the right and one on the left side. Neither went off when water flooded under the cabinet. It filled up th 1 inch drip container and was pouring out into the kitchen when I found the leak. An hour later after I had cleaned up most of the mess one went off. It wasn’t even close to the water at that point. I will be replacing all 6 I had bought with a different brand.

Could easily be a five star product with a few tweaks
It works, its loud enough for my use and would have given it a five star rating if.. .- It had a simple on/off toggle switch- The sound was intermittent instead of continuous- The sensor was designed differently so when you detach it from the base, it would protect its wiring with some type of simple cover- The wire from the sensor to the base had a disconnect in it so you could extend it as its kind of short

Water Alarm
So far I have only installed one of these alarms and it seems to function well. I tested it in some water and it has a loud alarm that could be heard from anywhere in my home. It states that the battery should last five years. I really doubt that, but time will tell. I am going to text the distance one can install the sensor from the alarm tomorrow by locating the two about 100 foot apart - the maximum allowed according to the manual. I shall report later on how well these hold up.

Good Design
The design of this product seems to have been given a lot of thought. It is a simple circuit which looks for a change from infinite to high resistance between a pair of contacts to indicate a layer of water on the floor. The best feature is zero battery drain in normal operation. The battery should last its shelf life. The unit can be self-contained, or the alarm can be wall-mounted and the contact assembly placed separately on the floor.I used one of mine to make a fail-safe well pump shut-down circuit should there be a leak in the garage where the pressure tank and pump controls are located. No more than a pressure tank full of water can ever be spilled there, even if no one is around to hear the alarm. The price is really low, too, cheap flood insurance.

Avoid home water disasters!
Learned the hard way the value of these inexpensive, simple little devices - my washing machine over-filled at my previous house and several rooms of vinyl flooring had to be replaced. I was at home but noticed the problem only after I heard my grandson splashing in the hallway! Now I have an alarm next to every water source in my current home (including behind the refrigerator in case the water line to the ice-maker breaks, what I'm told is a very common problem for homeowners). I've already averted a water catastrophe due to my water alarms: The one behind the upstairs toilet went off when just a few drops of water began to leak from a loose water line connection. Can't over-stress the value and importance of these great gadgets.

No nonsense, works, loud.
This think paid for itself by alerting me within a few weeks of placement in my store room that heavy rain was penetrating the foundation. It was loud and easy to test, I am sure others are as good and there are many to choose from, but rest assured this one is good.I bought 2 3-packs, and gave a few away to relatives.
