John Guest 1/4 Inch x 1/4 Inch Female Elbow Shut-Off Valve, NPTF Thread, Push to Connect Plastic Plumbing Fitting, PPSV500822WP

I had to replace the water storage tank for my kitchen RO filtration system. The old tank had a different fitting, no valve and no snap-in collet connection. I was wary that this valve would do the job, not being that familiar with collets and generally not that handy.I didn't want to reuse the old fitting because it didn't have valve to shut off the supply, and I wasn't sure if the plastic threads—to the tank and to the water line—would still be any good. Or that I'd strip them while removing it, and be stuck with no water in my kitchen sink until I figure out what the hell to do next.So I took a chance and bought this, having heard good things about the brand. Screwed onto the top of the tank no problem (yes, I was smart enough to use plumber's tape). And the 3/8" water line snapped easily into the collet. The true test was when I turned the water supply back on. No leaks!

This valve fits on top of my 5.5 gallon R.O. Storage tank perfectly.I believe the top threads on my tank are a male 1/4” NPT.I was able to use a silicone o ring instead of Teflon tape.I have a 3/8 OD ( Outer Diameter ) tube going to it which fits into this new valves push fitting perfectly.3/8 OD from the tank to the faucet speeds up the deliver of water through the faucet.To be honest, everything fitting wise that I need, and I can find John Guest makes it, I buy John guest.For purity and quality.

I chose this brand of RO storage tank valve because it's made with Polypropylene which is a more food-safe material than PVC used in other brands sold on Amazon. In the attached photos, the first (left) picture shows the John Guest Speedfit PPSV501222WP. Read the description in the title of this review. The 2nd (center) picture shows the 'PureSec Water Storage Tank Ball Valve 3/8 inch O.D.RO Tubing x 1/4 inch female pipe thread Push-Fit Elbow Shut-Off Valve'. The 3rd picture (right) shows a clear illustration of each of the two connectors, and their size, whether inside or outside diameter. Check out all the other pictures of the PurSec Ball Valve and see how the John Guest Speedfit is completely inadequate. I didn't consider the PurSec product because the description for PureSec Water Storage Tank Ball Valve 1/4 inch O.D.RO Tubing x 1/4 inch female pipe thread reveals it's made with PVC!You would think 3/8" female thread refers to the outside diameter of its thread, but it threads nicely into the 1/2" OD male pipe on my RO filter tank. Confounding, but it still works!Unfortunately, the 1/4" Push Fit connector has an inside diameter of 3/8", and in no way will hold the 1/4" OD RO Tubing of my RO filter. The 1/4" Push-Fit connector on the part I received is a 3/8" Push Fit connector.I checked the description of other John Guest fittings by the same seller, and some of them have slightly more detail, although not clear and very inadequate when compared to what's provided with the PurSec products I quoted.The worst part of this bad deal is that Amazon tells me "This item isn't eligible for return" when I tried to return/reorder it. I cannot find any 'non-returnable' warning in the Amazon listing, my Order Detail, or Invoice.This particular part is sold by Pure h2o4u. Too bad I didn't find these at Home Depot or Lowes when I checked, but I'll stick with them rather than trust Amazon sellers next time.

I installed these on my reverse osmosis tanks when I upgraded from 1/4 to 3/8 lines. My original fitting had an o-ring inside that kept it from leaking. These john guest units do not. So be sure to use a couple of wraps of teflon tape to avoid any leaks.

Great products from JG. One fitting is from late 2014 and the other was just purchased to add to RO storage tank. Both still have high quality nothing flimsy here. Leak free from day one. Has a what looks to be a brass ring to prevent expansion or splitting. Fitting is a female 1/4”NPT 90° shutoff to 3/8 OD hose. If looking at the fitting collet is 3/8 ID to receive 3/8"OD hose

Works perfectly. You will need a teflon tape for the connection to the tank. Quick connected to the 3/8 hose without any issues

Yes, granted, I should have read the reviews, but it did not even dawn on me that 1/4" was NOT for tubing. How difficult is it to simply say in the description: "1/4 inch threaded and 3/8 inch tubing"? Wrong item... can't return (READ THE POLICY). Might be a good product... but not for me.

Buyers be aware, you cannot return this item!Very vague and confusing description when it comes to measurements. Same issues as the other buyer. It doesn’t fit my Reverse Osmosis system. The valve is still in the plastic bag, unfortunately the seller doesn’t accept returning (wonder why?)Another brand new unused item which will be collected by the garbage people next week.
