Q: Do you need to put in sunlight initially or just when you want to “recharge” then after a couple years?

No you don't need to put them in the sun right out of the box, but if you are planning on using them every day (especially in highly damp and smelly locations) I would give them a sun boost every 2-3 months. These really only have an effective shelf life of a few years, it's not silica, so if you want to keep them working their best then just leave them in a sunny window while you go to work every other month.

Q: How long does this take to work? I have 8 bags all around the house where it's mildewy/moldy. Been there for 3 days and I still have the odors.

Depends on bag size, over all air flow and the root cause of the problem. A small bag is not going to work in a kitchen. Also if you haven't figured out what the cause of your odor is and stopped that, the bags won't be able to keep up. But you'll need to look at your spaces. It's the water that was causing mold and mildew completely gone? Are your bags the right size for your space? Is there free airflow or is it more closed off? If all else fails hang all 8 bags in one room and try shutting the door for a few days.

They should. They are actually quite amazing.

I would think you could put them in a window or window sill where the sun can hit them directly. If you have no windows, then I don't know what to say. I lay mine out on a step for an hour or so. Try the window.
